Any recommendations? I am really trying to work with training Momo, and want something a little more persuasive then romaine lettuce.

So far she does not like raisins. But she loves these dried cherries I found. I hear a lot of rabbits like craisins, but I am reluctant to give her anything with added sugar in it. I don’t even like my fruit with added sugar in it!

Also I prefer softer fruits I can break into tiny pieces. Like for instance, I get four or five pieces out of one cherry when I am working with her.

Freeze-dried fruits are lower in sugar than regular dried fruits, and I think they have a longer shelf life. We buy bags of freeze-dried strawberry slices at our local farmer’s market and the buns love them!

Oxbow makes freeze-dried strawberry treats too.

Try the organic food section. Someone sent me a box of dried fruits for Chacha’s birthday last year. I still have the box since each bag is sealed and I put the open pack in a plastic baggy.

The only ingredient is dried fruit. I forgot the name though -_- I’m feeding Chacha some dried asian pears.

Dried fruits can have more sugar in them than fresh fruits. I usually stick with fresh fruit for my bunnies, but do sometimes buy freeze dried fruit. Small dices of fresh apple or pear is what I give. Pears don’t keep too long after they have been cut, but you could buy small apples and cut off a slice then dice it up. The rest of the apple will keep for days in a plastic bag. The cut edges may get a little brown, but just slice that part off.

Oxbow does sell Simple Rewards fruit treats, which are freeze dried.  There is strawberry and banana, I’m not sure if there are other flavors.  The banana, which I have now, comes in slices and can be broken up into small pieces.

mine like dried papaya, pineapple, and mango. puppet liked the pears, but rue did not. i’ve been teaching rue “up” using papaya.

i loooooove just tomatoes. great variety, great quality, and no extra junk. i use their products for myself, my three year old, my rats, and so far they’ve been a hit with the rabbits, too!

you can also check the “baby” section of your local grocery store.  gerber makes freeze dried fruit and veggie snacks in different flavors.  they contain no added sugar.

I buy Sunseed Papaya treats. You can find them in the bird or small animal section. It’s the treat that I always have on hand for my buns.
