It’s 95 degrees outside right now and it is getting really warm in the house. My husband cleaned out the air conditioner earlier today and then went to turn it on. No cold air. The poor rabbits. We called to have someone come look at it, but nobody can be here before Wednesday. We loaded the buns up in their cage and carried to downstairs to the basement. Hopefully they will be okay down there.

They should be ok down there. If they seem hot, you might want to let them out on the concrete/tile if it’s an unfinished basement. Lolli’s in the (finished) basement and she’s great. lol

Oh no, I hope the air conditioner starts working properly soon so everybody can be more comfortable!

The basement isn’t exactly bunny-friendly. So the poor dears are in the cage down there. It’s 83 degrees inside the house still, but it is cooler down there. I feel so bad! And the stupid thing is it’s going to be 70 degrees outside starting Thursday.

Sounds like Illinois. 80 degrees one day and 40 degrees the next. LOL

I was actually worried about Lolli being cold. hahaha So I put a sheet in there, all bunched up so she could have a “bed” to sleep on. She does lay on it a little as she keeps pooping by it and I know she liked laying on it when we were in my apartment. But she’s fine. She actually stopped shedding. Knock on wood! lol

                Your bunnies will be ok!

Yes, it is always a bit of a roller coaster this time of year. I’m sure they will be fine, they are just going to be really upset with me since they will be confined to their cage. I just checked and it says it is still 81 degrees upstairs. So they will be spending the night down there. I will probably let them come upstairs in the morning, but they will have to go back when the house starts warming up again in the afternoon. There is so much stuff down there in the basement at the moment, there’s just no way they can be running around loose down there. It just wouldn’t be safe, unfortunately. I think my husband needs to stop bringing stuff home and throwing it down in the basement. I can hardly make it to the laundry room down there! o_O I’m exaggerating, but it still isn’t suitable for curious little buns.

I think they should be fine – there isn’t alot you can do and at least they are inside where this is shade and aren’t out in the direct sunlight.

I hope it gets fixed soon for all of you. I live in Texas and I always have my a/c serviced twice a year because I’m afraid to not have a/c or heat not that servicing it always works but it usually finds any problems before it starts.

Well it didn’t cool down in the house at all last night. I woke up this morning and it was still 81 degrees inside. I checked on the rabbits down in the basement. They looked annoyed, but otherwise they were okay. It’s humid in here too so that’s why I don’t think they should come upstairs. Oh well, I suppose they will be fine down there for now.

Okay, so they can’t fix the air conditioner. Well, they can but it will cost about half of what a brand new one would cost. We don’t think it’s worth fixing since it is a 30 year old unit. So we’re going to ask my husband’s parents if we can get a new one. It has cooled down outside because it just rained. I think it’s supposed to be in the 70s tomorrow and then the 60s after that. We brought the rabbits back upstairs to their room. I’m going to let them come out here in a little bit. They look really mad right now, so I’m almost afraid to turn them loose. They’ll probably be tearing up everything in sight just to spite me! LOL

30 years old! Wow, it is time for a new one :~) A new one will be more efficient and hopefully will cost less to run. It’s just the initial cost that hurts.

Rabbits don’t have the capacity to get angry and spiteful like we humans – they can be destructive though but I don’t think that would be directed personally towards you.

Haha! I don’t believe they don’t do things just to punish me! =p

So we talked to my husband’s parents and showed them the estimates. It looks like we will be getting a new air conditioner!
