My bunny who I’ve had for about a week and a half isn’t eating a lot of her hay. She’ll take a nibble every once and a while, but she’s not really interested in it. Her hay rack has enough space between the bars for her to easily pull the hay out, I also pull the hay out for her but she won’t eat a lot of it. She’s 12 or 13 weeks old.

The brand of hay is “Sunaturals Select Spring Harvest Timothy Hay”. I checked the bag and it isn’t expired.

          Have you tried Orchard Grass?

There are different cuts of hay and some rabbits prefer one over the other

I haven’t had a chance to try different types of hay yet, but I will. Thanks! I’ll look into Orchard Grass

Hi. I was thinking, if you are feeding pellets free-choice, your bunny might snub the hay for them. Mine did, and I started feeding her the pellets once a day. The hay is more important. If this isn’t the case with your bunny, then it could be that the hay you’ve got just isn’t palatable enough, and she’ll like the orchard grass or something else better. To use up the hay you’ve already got, maybe you could try adding some flower petals or herbs to it. Chamomile, rose petals, and lavender are okay. Oxbow also sells a botanical hay intended for mixing with other hays to stimulate your bunny’s appetite. You’d probably want to use small quantities of anything like that, though. They’re meant just to entice the bunny, I think. Also, my bunny does not like her hay rack. She will do all kinds of heavy lifting, but she won’t work for her hay! I just pile it in her litter box. Good luck. I’m sure you’ll figure out what your bunny likes.

I don’t know if it matters, but her pellets are hay based.

                  Most pellets are

She still needs to eat the hay though, its the long strands she needs. Definitely try other kinds of hay to get her interest up.
