So tonight I was holding Sir in trance position and checked out his recent neuter scar.  It’s been about three weeks since he got neutered and tonight it looked like it had been bleeding recently.  He’s acting totally normal, but I’m a little concerned.  I was planning on calling the vet tomorrow, but do you think it’s a serious issue? Could it be infected?

Probably not infected, unless it’s swollen and has pus. Is the blood coming from the neuter area or the anus? Good idea to call the vet in any case.

It’s coming from the neuter area, and it’s not swollen or anything, it’s just kinda red and looks like it’s been bleeding recently

I’d take him in to get checked, 3 weeks after neuter it should be all healed on the surface.

Alright, so the update on Sir is that I checked him the next day and he was completely cleared up. So I didn’t take him to the vet and watched him just in case. I’ll keep checking him out down there but so far he’s been totally fine.

Glad he’s better. Since it’s Monday, I would check him carefully through Wednesday and if there is any change for the worse, make a vet appt. before the week is out. These things always seem to show up on a Friday or Saturday night and then you are stuck worrying over the weekend.
