  I had Ms. Toffee in again today for her bladder sludge – old age and being overweight is not kind to my Toffee.
  
  We are trying a new generation of enroflaxin, which most rabbit owners know as baytril. This new medication is called Orbifloxacin and comes in a liquid suspension already and does not have to be refrigerated like the compounded baytril. And this is only given once a day as compared to the twice a day w/baytril. Has anyone else used this yet?
  
  Secondly, there was another older rabbit there, a mini-lop who was 8 years old according to her owner. The thing with this little rabbit was that she was an indoor/outdoor rabbit and apparently she injured her mouth somehow when she was outside unattended – they have no idea what happened but the damage was very expensive. I asked the vet what this little rabbit’s chance was and she said 50/50 – her mouth was damaged very extensively and nothing can really be done – the vet had to pull several teeth and the jaw was broken. My vet discussed with them that she can no longer go outside (if she even survives) obviously she cannot go outside anyway because she is going to be recovering and has to be hand fed. My vet said the owners (who were extremely nice by the way) said that their rabbit just loved to go outside so she had a discussion with them about this of course. BTW, the bill for this was over $700.00….I hope this little one makes it, I can tell she was well loved.

  Awe poor Toffee and the bunny! That is so sad about the mini lop. But again it’s why you watch them when they’re out there.
