        My new-ish rabbit (a month now) has a bare belly. It’s not the recently spayed kind where it’s near the rear end of the rabbit but the belly. It looks like it has been shaved off by a person, not pulled by the rabbit. It’s a huge patch, about 1.5 x 2 inches.

        Tigerlily is a girl Creme d’Argent (probably mixed with other dwarf stuff though). I adopted her from a rescue as a companion to my other rabbit, Romeo. My best guess is that she’s about 6-7 months. In that case, I adopted her around 4 months old. The problem is that the rescue had so many similar rabbits they couldn’t keep track of every single one so she might be older. She’s about 4.5 pounds.

        Could there have been a health problem or something from before? I’m just curious. I like to know about their past.

        Lots of pictures here: lynnbunn.blogspot.com

        Thanks everyone~

          Are there any rashy, scaly or dry skin spots on the bald patch? If so, she might have fur mites or a fungal infection – which would need to be treated by a vet.

          If there’s no dry skin or rashes on the bald spot, and you can feel a little fuzz on the bald spot, she’s probably just a really heavy shedder. One of my bunnies used to have a skin condition that caused huge bald spots, and although he’s completely over that now, he still gets almost-bald spots when he’s going through a particularly heavy shed.

            I would ask the rescue that you adopted her from what might be the reason. They may have shaved her for a reason — maybe she had matted fur originally or ?? And sometimes it can take a long time for the hair to grow back. Could be shedding. But I bet you would find the answer with the rescue you got her from.

              @FluffyBunny;;
              Hmm. That doesn’t seem plausible because it’s a super neat rectangle and it’s the only spot she has it. @ _@ I guess it could be shedding but the thing with her is that she hasn’t shedded. My other rabbit just passed his shedding season but hers never started.

              @BB;;
              Yeahhh! That seems like it might be right. Matted fur seems like a possible explanation. They’re from the Martinez Rescue problem with the hoarder. Don’t know if you’re familiar with that.

              Thanks both of you!!!!

              Hmm. I’ve been thinking, maybe, do they shave the bellies of pregnant rabbits? I know the rabbits pull out their own fur (it doesn’t look like that), but just curious.

              Thanks again~

                I’m not sure.. there aren’t many members on here that know of those practices
                I would definitely get info from the place where you got her from.

                Nice blog… I really liked the pictures and the content. I would just like to say that, I would not recommend baby oil in a rabbit’s ear.. it could do more harm than good.

                  Has she been spayed? Is it possible they shaved her to look for a scar?

                    I think it’s most likely the fur not fully grown back from her spay. I am familiar with that particular rescue (Martinez rescue) and thank you for adopting one of these now fortunate rabbits.

                      @LoveChaCha;;
                      Oh I see…
                      I am glad to hear someone likes my blog though.

                      It was my rabbit’s foster that recommended it. They have been using it to treat mild ear mite problems successfully.
                      I’m not using it much, but I’ll definitely keep that in mind the next time I decide they need a treatment! Thank you!

                      @Beka27;;
                      Yep, she’s been spayed. I dunno about the spay thing though because it’s above her rear. It’s pretty high up. @ _@

                      @Sarita;;
                      Really? I thought spay patches were lower. Oh well~ You guys are probably right!

                      I actually adopted them from the East Bay Rabbit Rescue, but I think the Martinez one is a branch from that? I dunno~
                      Either way, the rabbits are so lovely.

                      Thanks everyone~
