I adopted my bunny, Cruz about a week ago and he always has hay and pellets to eat.  However, I was wondering if it’s possible too give him too much lettuce and carrots.  He loves eating them so I give him a little salad type thing 2-3 times a day.  I just don’t want to underfeed or overfeed him.  Any suggestions?

What type of lettuce are you giving him? Make sure it’s not iceburg! On the “bunny info” link on the green menu at the top of the page there’s diet information regarding how much vegetables you are supposed to give your bunny according to their age and weight. Generally, you don’t want to give too many carrots because they are quite high in sugar. Also, how old is Cruz? If he is over 6 months, he should not be having unlimited pellets – it could make him overweight. Again, daily pellet rationing info is available under “bunny info” at the top.

Hay and veggies make up the majority of an adult rabbit’s diet, pellets are fed in a very limited quantity. A lionhead would probably not need more than 1/8th cup of pellets a day. Veggies should be between 2 and 4 cups per day. Hay always fresh and available.
