I just adopted a 2 year old lionhead male rabbit and they said that he was potty trained. Maybe it’s just being in a new environment but he’s going to the bathroom basically everywhere except his litter box. He has a box that he has a blanket and some toys in and he’s peeing and pooping in there and on the floor and he has another box full of hay that he’s started going in too. Any ideas on what to do in this situation?

He needs to get used to his new environment. That being said, act as if he wasn’t trained and clean up after him, encourage him to use his litter box, keep his area small until he is more consistent using the litter box.

I got a rabbit from someone who told me she was potty trained, but my bun was still marking everywhere. That was about two weeks ago. She’s gotten a lot better about it, but she still will go outside the box. To help with this I’ve been placing old fleece blankets on the areas she really likes to mark. It’s helped a lot with clean up! Keep at it and I’m sure he’ll get it eventually

same thing happened to meeee!! peanut butter is pooping EVERYWHERE!!

Jelly, the 7 month old daughter, is already using the litter box.

              I hope time will help.

Should I keep peanut butter in the rabbit condo while Jelly roams the living room? I don’t want Peanut Butter to think I’m punishing her.

Ibell, I would suggest keeping his hay in his litter box if he is using the hay box as a potty. Bunnies like to go when they eat The rest of it is likely him making everything else his territory. Just keep cleaning it up and eventually he should get the idea

If there is an area that bunny tends to pee most often, move the litter box to that area.

Does your bunny go at all in the box? Does he leave at least piles in his box? It’s normal for your bunny to leave territorial marks –scattered poos everywhere for a little while as he gets used to his new place. Those are different than the pile poo. When he urinates outside of the box, clean it up with a paper towel, and tear part of the urine soaked towel into the litter box.

                            Keep us updated.
