I came home from being out all morning and I noticed a stinky smell in the house. It was from the rabbit room. Bindi had a huge cecal wad attached to his bum and it was all over his condo. I gave him a bum bath. He’s very mad at me right now. I’ve never experienced this before. He once had a little glob but I couldn’t believe all the stuff all over. It was mostly cecals mixed up with what looked like squishy poo.

What causes it and what should I do? He didn’t eat anything out of the ordinary.

I guess again I would wonder about dental problems since he had the choking incidence and now the cecal problem.

If it happens again I will definitely take him in for a check-up. What sort of dental problem would it most likely be? He’s only about 4.

              Possibly some molar spurs.

Mimz is about 4, and he just had his done. He had some huge spurs on his molars, largest the doc had ever seen, but he was still eating and stuff so the only way I knew something was up was because he was drinking more water than usual to help his mouth feel better, and I would hear him grinding his teeth in the middle of the night (the noise echoed through his habitat floor.)
She’d been able to see just a bit of them when she looked in his mouth with her scope, but didn’t realize how large they were till she had him under.

How long ago was Bindi’s last trim? Perhaps this also has something to do with his chronic ear probs?

Bindi has never had a tooth trim. No more cecal problems since I first posted. If I see another sign that it may be his teeth acting up I will take him for a check-up. Is there any way for me to check in his mouth or do you have to really know what you are looking for to see a problem?

You won’t be able to see molar spurs. The only possible way is with an otoscope.

We got Hannah at 3 years and she had molar spurs – never had an issue before that. I agree with Sarita that it seems like teeth issues.

I will keep a close eye on him for now. I’m dealing with a costly cat/vet issue right now so hopefully this will be able to wait until that is resolved but if I see anything else that concerns me I will definitely take him in asap.
