Anyone here ever had to deal with it??

I’m not sure if that’s what my bunny has but this morning I woke up to a very foul smell in the room where her cage is and I found a rather large pile of poop of hers all meshed together with both soft poop and hard poop and it smelled really bad.

I recently got some new hay for her from a mail order distributor.  It’s the american pet diner timothy hay cut 2.  It’s softer for her.  I was a little nervous with the hay I got in the pet store being it was like sticks.  I also started giving her chickory which she never had.  I don’t know if that has anything to do with it.

I was just wondering what I can do for her and that if it’s something to worry about.

        Thanks

        chris

That sounds like cecals and she is overproducing them. What is the rest of her diet? Does she get pellets?

she gets about 1/4 cup pellets a day with romaine, parsley, red leaf…..nothing different. But I did start to give her chickory last week..just a little to start with to see if it agrees with her. Would this be the culprit?? Also, I give her some banana and blueberries every other day. A very small amount.

It could be a bit too much fruit, possibly combined with the chickory. I would cut back to a very simple pellet, hay and romaine or red leaf diet for her next 2 meals and watch for more poos. If they are normal next, let her eat simply for a few days. If she has another bout today or tonight without getting back to normal,  I would call the vet.

                thank you.

so far she has pooped normally this morning.  i will stop giving her so much fruit and will definitely cut down on the pellets.
