I am starting to make preparations for my move to my dad’s house.  Lolli will be inside.  Thank God.  All the way inside too – in the my old room in the basement.  The basement is finished and has always been used as the tv room.  So I’ll be with her a lot still.

My dad had a new well drilled several years ago and it’s very high in sulfur.  Is this a problem for Lolli?   Just need to make arrangments with my dad to have him buy more filtered water if it is a problem.

I have no idea about the sulfur. I’m sorry. I really wish I knew and I tried to research a bit but really didn’t find anything that I felt confident quoting. So I’ll keep checking around, and hopefully someone else will know.

In the meantime, though— Congratulations on Lolli becoming a full fledged House Bunny! Yeah! I’m sure you will both be happier now that you can spend more time together.

I’m hoping that my dad bonds to her and let’s me let her out. I should be able to let her out in her room, but not the rest of the house until my dad gets used to her. It was a major battle getting him to let her be inside. So she’s going to have to be in her pen all the time. But I’m still on medical leave so I will be home a lot with her and will be spending a lot of time with her. It’s going to be a big change for us both.

I was thinking that I’ll just give her bottled water. I drink filtered water now just because I don’t like the taste of the tap water in my apartment. But she gets tap water. But it’s city water, not from a well of course. I don’t know what other high level of minerals my dad’s water has except for the sulfur. So…..I just won’t worry about it by giving her filtered water. She’ll be even more spoiled if that’s even possible.

I would recommend taking a gallon of the “old” water with you to help her transition. It sounds like you are going from city water to well water- and it always depends on the water and personal preference but there is usually a noticable difference in taste. I think that filtering the well water is a good idea as I would think sulfur would have a bit of an odor and that might be off putting to Lolli. Filtering would probably be cheaper than buying bottled water.

Katnipcrzy- My dad buys the gallons of drinking water. That’s what I meant about the bottled water. And thank you for suggesting I bring some “old” water when I move her. I wouldn’t have thought of that. I also have my Pur pitcher too.

My dad has a whole house filtered, but the sulfur is just really bad even with it. His water smells like rotten eggs. Yeah, gross. I’ve tried to talk to him about stuff like reverse osmosis which is apparently supposed to help and it doesn’t cost too much. Well the actual unit isn’t too expensive. I don’t have any idea about installation. lol But I wish he’d look into it more because he spends a lot of money on water. It’s just dumb, but oh well.

Around here people will bathe and wash in well water but do not drink it-however they provide it to their pets to drink. Here’s my thoughts-if you won’t drink it they shouldn’t.

So if you are going to drink it-they can. And if not-then no. Beyond-katnips suggestion to help transition is perfect!
