So it’s midnight.  I’m bored.  I’m surfing through bb and decided to read the diet and nutrition information.  I know mostly what bunnies can eat, but every now and again I read a fruit or veggie that makes me go “Hm, really?”

I need to get back on giving her oodles of hay! I’ve totally slacked off.  She gets hay for sure, but I used to be ON it.  No so much.  I need to get back into that.

Question about pellets.  It said 1/4 to 1/2 cup of pellets a day for a 6 pound bunny.  Lucy was 11 last time she was at the vet, but I typically give her around 3/4.  Sound about right?

Also I was reading ways to beat the heat (not that it’s hot at all right now).  I liked the ice cube trick.  Any juice recommendations?  I know to dilute it, but any specific brands?

3/4c sounds like a good amount for her.

Not sure about juice since I don’t feed it, but make sure whatever you get is no sugar added and 100% juice.

Hi, I just saw your post and thought I’d reply here. Is she 11 lbs. because she is big, or did the vet say she’s a bit overweight? If overweight, try cutting back on the pellets to 1/2 cup and increasing the hay. Otherwise, if she is at her recommended weight, keep doing what you’re doing.

She’s a big bunny, like structurally wise! She’s bigger than our cat, although our cat is pretty tiny for some reason.

              We have disproportionate animals!

Awwww 11 pounds! I love big bunnies.
Sounds like the pellet size is good. Definitely stay on the hay-it’s so hard to get them to eat it if they don’t like it, so keeping them on a big amount of hay at all times is super important
