I enjoy putting a “twist” on the toys that I buy for my bunnies. Both Devi and Pandia really enjoy anything that dangles (like a jellyfish toy). I’ve been searching for string/twine/rope that would be okay if they were to injest a little. By no means will they be eating it for nutritional purposes. I just wanted to make sure that tying some Twisted Jute Twine to their cages/maze haven wouldn’t cause serious digestive problems or be toxic to their little bodies.

        It is an ACE product:

        Gardening Twine

Twisted Jute AND Natural and biodegradable

I’ve tried researching via Google and I can’t come up with anything conclusive. Any thoughts or experiences? I will not put this up for them until I’m positive it won’t harm them.

        Thank you.

You will find jute twine on some toys. I don’t know about gardening twine, if it has been treated with anything or not.

I would not worry about it as they won’t be eating whole bunch. They may bite it through but that’s not enough to have ill effects.

I’ve made lots of bunny toys a while back and I’m certain that untreated jute is like the perfect ingredient I strung up balsa wood cubes on it and the buns loved it Got it from a craft store
