Stormy is being really picky with hay right now…not eating a lot of it. I usually buy the 25lb bag of Oxbow Orchard hay. The store was out so I had to buy the smaller bag. It’s probably a different crop or something and he’s not happy with it.

I went to the pet store to get another bag of something to help entice him and I found this: Sun Naturals Flower Power Hay.  This is the description I found online, I’ve used the plain timothy from this company and it’s pretty good. I thought I could just sprinkle some on their hay pile as a treat once a day . Good idea or no? Do you think it would upset them? I’m pretty sure the base is Timothy.

Flower Power Timothy Hay 16 oz. Additional information

A beautiful salad bouquet with aromatic herbs and flowers rich in phyto-nutrients.
Let your pet feast on calendula, chamomile, rose petals and more.
No added sugars or carbohydrates – a big plus for chinchillas and great for overweight pets.

It sounds like Oxbow’s Botanical Hay. I’d eat it :~) But yes, it will be fine for them.

Big hit with Olivia and Bindi. Stormy doesn’t seem to like it. He’s being way too fussy and it’s causing Momma to worry.

Can you get second cutting timothy hay anywhere?

The only hay I can get here is Oxbow or Sun Naturals. Ordering hay is insanely expensive. Like 3 times the price of the hay for the shipping. None of my buns will eat my horse’s hay…not sure what cut that is.

I’m just frustrated because he is usually not fussy. I also recently bought some American Pet Diner Apple Honey Cookies and he won’t eat those either. I don’t care if he doesn’t want pellets (I even tried soaking them in warm water and making a mush…thinking it might be his teeth) but he needs hay. Hopefully the pet store will get my 25lb bag in this weekend and he will eat. Although the small bag I got looks and pretty much smells exactly like the big bag. I really don’t know what the problem is.

I’m probably going to bring him for a routine check-up when I bring Bindi in 7 days (Bindi is on Baytril for his ears and needs a re-check).
