For those of us that love bunnies, it can be irritating how often bad things happen to bunnies in popular culture.  So what’s your favorite pop culture bunny moments?

Being a child of the late 90s and early 00s, mine come from Buffy and Xena.  Anya and her rabbit phobia always makes for great moments.  For those who are fans “Bunnies aren’t just cute like everybody supposes, they’ve got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses, and what’s with all the carrots?  What do they need such good eyesight for anyway?  Bunnies! Bunnies! It must be bunnies!” is something that I sing to mine quite often. Not to mention the flashback where she actually raises bunnies or the episode that she keeps magically creating them by accident.  Movies and TV that are shot in New Zealand seem to involve people hunting rabbits a lot, so I found an episode of Xena where a rabbit goes all Monty Python on one of the characters to be cathartic.

Watership Down of course is an obvious one, but it terrified me as a child for reasons that I can’t really remember.

What are some other cute/funny/bunny stereotype breaking bunny related plots or characters?

Monty Python’s Killer Rabbit! In high school my girlfriends and I watched that movie a million times, so that’s definitely my favorite rabbit!

He wasn’t cute, but Bugs Bunny was the epitome of smart bunnyness. I actually learned the music from the Barber of Seville by watching Bugs massaging Elmer Fudd’s head with his feet in time to the music while he pretended to be a barber. Leave it to a Wascally Wabbit to teach a kid classical music.

                      Thumper!!!!

I love Thumper! I just have to buy everything I see with him on it. It was my nephew’s 2nd Birthday on Saturday and I bought him a huge box of the Disney Bunnie’s books. So adorable! Of course, I read them!

I recently heard of a 1972 horror movie called “Night of the Lepus” about mutant rabbits attacking a town. I got my bf to dowload it. He loves cheezy old horror movies and I want to see bunnies! I will let you know how it is when I watch it.

PuddleJumper: my first bunny when I was much younger was named Benjamin Bunny!
LittlePuffyTail: That movie sounds amazingly absurd. I think we might have to watch it here too.
