How is your bunny reacting to the cold weather?

I’ve noticed that Chacha is eating more hay. She is a good hay eater, but she has been consuming a little more than usual. She looks a little bit heavier also  She gets her daily runs at night like normal!

        How is everybunny’s bun(nies) doing?

Smokey is the SAME way. She has been devouring hay as if I starve the poor thing. She also eats all the hay I give her while she’s at work with me. When we get home, she angrily scarfs down hay all night. She’s not really like this during warmer weather, and we are in a carpeted basement, but it’s chillier down here than upstairs, so it’s as if she’s eating for hibernation!

I haven’t noticed more hay eating… seems about the same. They’ve always been pretty good hay-eaters.

Moose has been inhaling his hay, monkey has been eating more too. But they are right next to the sliding glass door, so it might be a bit chillier there. Smudge.. its hard to tell if she’s eating more, she always had her head stuffed in the hay pile anyway lol.

This is so interesting to me, because I’ve been wondering for a few weeks at how much hay she is eating lately. She just seems to want a lot, and more is better. And she snarfs up both kinds I have here at the moment, so I’m going to let her try a third I have on hand that’s new.

We’re in FL, so it’s a very mild weather change. Didn’t associate it with Winter, but it’s possible. (Daily in the 60s or more instead of summer 80s & 90s. We have AC though, for summer.)

Minnie and Maddie have been eating more hay but that may also be because I ordered some KM bluegrass hay and I think they like it a lot more than their timothy they used to get and the KM is also better quality than what I was getting so I think it may be because of switching hay.

I haven’t really noticed an increase per se. But she has been chowing down on her hay cubes. Since I got her hay cubes, she hasn’t been eating her loose hay as much. Really…she hasn’t been eating more hay, but she’s been chowing down on pellets and lettuce and begging like mad for treats. LOL

Mine have definitely been eating more hay. I don’t think they’ve put on weight, but Otto is definitely a little fluffier (I think it’s all fur)

Same ol here, no changes. Though I have a couple bunnies who really need to eat more hay.

I haven’t noticed any difference with gang, but being as their headquarters is in the basement family room the climate is always the same.

bunbuns1, if she isn’t eatign the loose hay, i’d definitely not give her the cubes as much. Bunnies need the courseness of the lose hay that the cubes just don’t give.

Ohhh yes, Peppy has been scarfing that stuff down. Actually, it seems like she’s been eating more in general…last night, due to a busy schedule, she got new hay, her pellets, and her veggies at the same time…it’s a wonder she didn’t explode overnight

Dutchess has been eating a bit more hay, though she hasn’t gained any weight. If your buns look bigger it could also be winter coat fur.

Meh…Pip is my black hole where hay is concerned…but I’d have to say Ms. Spoiled is WASTING more hay than eating it. She makes herself a bed almost as high as her habitat wall about every week or so. I think I threw out an entire shopping bag full today that she’d tromped, slept on and shed/pooped in. (ugh!)
Mimzy and Fiver might be eating a bit more. However, Mimz looks like he is losing weight. He feels bony to me. Fiver is definitely getting too round. This from a bun who can’t eat treats because they give him poopy butt.

Our house stays pretty warm most of the time though. I don’t see a difference in their food consumption so much with the temperature driving it as the amount of light coming through the windows.
We’re up to 6 1/2 hours of daylight now, btw. WOOT!
