My bunny does not seem to be very interested in carrots or other greens, does anyone else have this issue or have you heard about it? If so what did you do about it?

What have you offered the bunny? How old is he/she? What is the rest of the daily diet like, types of food and quantity?

Some bunnies are very picky and you might have to try a few different things to get their interest. One of my bunnies never touches carrots, and is so picky about everything else that he would only eat romaine lettuce for the first year. Now he tries other things, but only because he has a friend who eats a wider variety of food.

            What have you tried?

Some rabbits are picky, I second that

My bunny is a year and REFUSES to eat carrots . She only loves her dear Romaine and Cilantro.

I have seen that rabbits have a tendancy to snub veggies if they are getting a lot of pellets. That was in my experience.

Well, you shouldn’t be too concerned about the lack of interest in carrots. Real rabbits aren’t Bugs Bunny, and there is way too much sugar in carrots to be a staple.

Her diet is a small amount of pellets, unlimited hay, she really likes her bunny “junk” food that she can only have every so often like apple and banana. I have tried carrots, spinach, the dark green lettuces, celery and brocolli so far. I got her from a place that didn’t know much about her at all including what kind of rabbit she is. She is not that young maybe a year guessing her size but I was thinking that it may take some time for her to get used to this stuff because where I got her from did not offer and veggies or anything.

By junk food do you mean the kind of pellets with dried veggies and stuff in it? Because that kind of pellet are not good for rabbits, I would only allow her to have the plain pellets.

Some veggies that she might like are parsley, cilantro, and romaine lettuce.

I had two foster rabbit who refused all greens but Parsley. I found them very odd… but like people we all like different things
Sometimes if a rabbit has not tried soemthing before, they may not know it’s ok to eat, I know horses who won’t eat apple or carrots.
I would suggest not giving up on these healthy foods, maybe every once and a while add a bit in with what they do eat, and see if they eat it one day. It may or may not work but we wouldn’t know if we didn’t try

As for ‘bad treats’ like apple and banana, those are much better then the sugary store bought stuff. I know a lady with a 13 yr old dwarf bunny who get’s a peice of banana every day, she swears it’s the banana that has kept him healthy into his old age… LOL
