So I finally made marley her new cage and she was soooo excited about it!! Well When i woke up this mornig i noticed that she pooped everywhere and even peed in a few spots instead of using her litter box. She has been litter trained for probably over 6 months now and im just really confused on why she isnt using her box anymore. I completely cleaned up the cage and litter box to see if she continues to do so and even put a 2nd box in too.

So any of you know why she might be doing this??

Was she first put in it yesterday? She could just be marking her new territory.

When rabbits are in a new place they like to mark there territory, so it should go away once she know its “hers”. In the mean time make sure you put all her poos back in the box and soak up some of the pee in paper towel / or toilet paper and put a small piece of pee soaked paper in her box.

ps. Do you have any pics of her new cage?

Thanks guys thats what i was hoping you guys would say. Today seemed to go better but im not sure…….

I cleaned everything up and then had to go to thanksgiving dinner, when i got home she didnt pee or poop at all….. about 4-5 hours i was gone. Like 5 minutes after i got home she hopped into her box and pooped a bunch!

About an hour later… like right before i started this post i could smell a strong odor from her cage, She still hasnt peed at all from what i can tell, so its her poop that smells really terrible this time. As i looked at it i could tell that it was very mushy and wet looking. I noticed that earlier too but didnt think anything of it. it also seems like it might be striny with like hair sticking out of it. Its got me a little worried. Shes eating just fine pellets and hay. Shes never had mushy poop before though.

Ill post pictures soon i just have to resize them so they will fit first.

That could have been excess cecals which can happen when the diet is too rich in protein.
Is she shedding? Perhaps you’re seeing some hair passing thru her. But if your seeing wet poop with stingy mucus she’ll prob need a visit to the vet if it keeps happening.
