Hi everyone, i have a 7 month old flemish giant and a 6 month old mini rex. finding toy ideas for the rex is nooooo problem beause she is soo small but finding toy ideas for the flemi is soo hard. he gets i swear jealous if i have something for ginju, the rex and not something for him that he can fit into…or on for that matter.

Anyone have ideas on what i can do for him?

What have you tried so far that he likes?
Usually a bunny will either like to dig, jump, hide, chew, toss, or arrange. If you notice which of these actions he prefers, you can then get him toys that relate to his favorite activity.

I would get super-size toys, like cat-size ones, or make some such as tunnels, boxes connected together etc. and I would not supply small toys that Atticus can’t play with. I am sure Ginju will do fine with using big toys too. Most toys from the BB store work for rabbit of all sizes, check them out!

I just got the BB tunnel. It’s surprisingly large! You wouldn’t think so from the pic, but there is a ton of space in there, it is long, and it’s probably over a foot high. I highly recommend it!

the toys that i had for ginju before atticus came were removed since he cant use them, except for her log tunnel, it stayed so they can both chew on it and do. i do give them toilet paper rolls with hay treats inside but that isnt soo much a toy. they have the 95% of the upstairs in the farm house i live on and atticus LOOVES to jump on my bed and is sitting beside me as i ype this. i have tried a digging box but neither of them cares for it, they just chewed the box. so far he likes to jump!!! but that is all i have noticed.

And it doesn’t really matter what size the rabbit is as far as chew toys. They will work for a rabbit of any size. Binkybunny also has the larger willow balls and cubes which last a long time. You could try building an obstacle course with boxes and platforms and tunnels.

lol I don’t have much suggestion, but when I read “so far he likes to jump!!!” I thought it said likes to THUMP haha.

I haven’t seen a flemish in person, but how big do you think he is? Is he still a babe or full grown? How much does he weigh? B/c with him being a larger breed there are probably toys for small children that he can play with. Have you had a look around in a toy store for products that would be safe? I’ll look around online for some ideas and if I find anything good I’ll be sure to post!

So far I haven’t found much new stuff for the big guys, but here is what I have so far. I’ll try to get more creative though

First I guess think of it by breaking it down. What is your rabbits favorite thing to do? You said you think he might like jumping the best. I say that’s lucky then b/c if he has fun doing that then maybe you can run around with him and jump too!

The usual recs are: baby rattles, toilet paper/paper towel rolls (I don’t give tp rolls b/c they might be extra germy in the bathroom. Yuck!), cardboard boxes (might be able to get large ones at a shipping store or grocery), plastic or rubber balls, stuffed animals (my bun loves hers), towels or washcloths to throw around, old newspaper or phone books to rip up, wooden bird toys, baskets. Oh, yes baskets! See if you can get one of those big laundry hampers made out of wicker. You could cut out the bottom and it could be a tunnel. You can also make a ramp with some wood. You can get really cheap stuff at the hardware store, he might like to jump off lol or run up it. Oh, and I’m not sure if you have the space, but you might be able to get a round trash can big enough for him to play in. Seems crazy to think of bringing a big ugly trash can inside, but if it would make him happy… And don’t forget about plain brown paper bags. He might be able to fit in them, or at least they’d be more fun for him, less like throwing around a feather I suppose.

With it being the holidays and all, if you or friends and family will be wrapping gifts ask everyone to save their wrapping paper rolls if they’re empty. Maybe it could be cut in half to be the perfect size for your flemi

You can ask BB what the weight capability is for the Maze Haven, but they can be stacked when you build them, so even though it’s cardboard, you might want to get one for him to climb around. Also make sure he can fit through the circumference of the hole.

I like a built wooden structure with ramps. That way he can run up and down or jump on it. Just make a few adobe cave type structures, like cubes, that he can jump up and down and go through. You might make a hidey cardboard box that he can only reach by jumping onto a platform, so it’s his private destination. Then have a chew toy inside that’s his special toy.

OhBella: He is only 7 months old so not full grown yet. He has to be between 11-15lbs. I had tried to make him mazes out of boxes but when he jumped ontop, it just clapses…he didnt like that very much!! lol He is bigger then my 2 cats, 15 week old kitten and 1-1.5yr old siamese. he is also bigger then our 2 jack russels…and our russels are 10 and 12lbs. so, he is quite a big boy!

but that is a really good idea for using tos for small ids!! i never thought of that!!!!!! thank you

thank you everyone else for your ideas!! keep em coming!!

My little girl Smudge loves towels. She spends hours digging in them, smoothing them, playing under them… its her favorite thign ever. Every morning we go to her pen to see her, and she is under her towel. We’ll sit beside her and say “Where’s the bunny?” and she will stop moving.. then THUMP. back to playing. “where’s Smudge?” ..stops.. THUMP. back to playing. She is silly under her towel

Do you have access to building supplies and/or someone who can build stuff for you? If cardboard hidey boxes and stuff won’t work, try to make something out of wood.

                                http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp

                                or something like this:

                                http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp

you could even find something like this for less money to be altered for him to jump on and such.

first thing i thought of when i saw this was a cat tower, your cats would love it same as the bunnies.

i went a little over board with some… lol.

I would play on that ^^

                                  hehe their all so cool.

That green “beanstalk-looking” cat tower is so cool! It is actually decorative! So many of those cat towers are ugly. But that’s too awesome!
