hey! So my room is usually very very cold!! the window is open all day and all night and right now its 44 outside. Marley lives in my room but on the opposite side of the wondow but its still really cold in here.

I know bunnies can live in colder temps and ive read that under 65 is the best. but how cold is too cold for her?

That’s pretty cold for indoors. The issue is if her winter coat isn’t developed. Many house buns never get a thicker winter coat, or if they do, it’s very minimal and doesn’t offer much protection. You might have to end up housing her like she is an outdoors rabbit (but inside) with a hidey box full of straw and cover the sides of her cage/pen with a sheet or blanket to prevent drafts from blowing on her. This will make clean-up more difficult for you (she will probably begin to lose litter habits as she potties in the hidey box), but if you insist on having it this cold, I’m not sure what your other options are. Is there any way she can be relocated to another room or is the entire house kept this cold?

That is very cold. It’s true what Beka says, our indoor rabbits are not acclimated to the cold cold weather. Do you have to keep it this cold? Can you at least close the window?

That is too cold for a house rabbit especially since there would be a draft coming in. Just close the window, your rabbit will be much more comfortable. Exposure to temperature fluctuation such as outdoors or by a continually open window puts stress on your rabbit’s immune system.

Im not saying that its 44 in the room. thats just how cold it is outside so obviously its warmer inside. all i wanted to know was if there was a temperature that is too cold for a rabbit. like ive read that 65 is the most comfortable temp but what is a too cold of temp?

I’d say that anything below 60 degrees on a continuous basis isn’t fit for man nor beast. (55 max)
