I am still concerned that he is not getting enough fiber. I switched hays in order to try and get him to eat more, which he thankfully has, and to higher fiber veggies. And I reduced the pellets and increased veggies. But he is so picky, I feel like he barely eats now and it makes me sad. Whenever I put his veggies in the pen, he just stares at me and begs for his pellets… Recently though he has been rejecting his favortie collard greens for broccoli. And so now he will only eat his broccoli. He used to do the same with collard greens and then cilantro before that. Is there a way to make all of his veggies equally enticing? And should I give him more pellets again? He used to have an unlimited amount until he reached 7 months, and is 8 months now, and is getting 1/4 cup.

Do you just give him one type of veggie at a time? I would recommend a variety every day.

You are going to have to practice some tough love on the pellets.

I would persist – as Sarita says, tough love is the way ahead. If he gets rewarded with extra pellets for being picky it will encourage him. Give him a variety of veggies, stick to the ration of pellets and carry on with the hay. Your bun will not starve, he will learn to eat (and enjoy) his veggies and hay. You are doing the right thing by him – even if he acts like you’re starving him!

Persistence and experimentation pay off. My rabbit was a poor hay eater when we were using store bought timothy hay. Over a period of months we started experimenting with some different hays. After some misses, we finally settled on a mixture that includes orchard, wheat, and oat. Now he will leave his pellets and greens if we bring him a fresh basket of hay. It seems they all have their own preferences for hay and it takes a little time to figure ir out.

I try and give him two but sometimes I run out of one thing and then have to wait to go grocery shopping until I paid for other things. Veggies is the one thing I feel really bad about because I can usually afford two or three different things a week.

What veggies are easy to grow inside an apartment on my own? I used to have a garden before I got him but now i don’t have access to one anymore. I was thinking about this option as well, but everything grows so SLOW. lol

Two or three different veggies a week will be fine – don’t feel bad! I would just try and ration it out so he gets a little of each every night, maybe divide it into the portions to store it rather than accidently using one up too fast? I did that for a while with mine when money was really tight for me.
