        Update on the hay situation!

I gave orchard grass to Bingley after days of force feeding him his timothy hay. I put a small pile in front of him and he ate it all within minutes. Then he found the rest of it in his rack and ate more! I don’t get why he doesn’t like Timothy hay. But I’m glad he is eating hay on his own now! I was getting worried.

My buns will sometimes snub timothy too. They devour orchard so that’s what they get.

Exactly what mine did. He hardly touched timothy. I experimented for a while with different hays from BB store. He will now go through unbelievable amounts of a mixture of oat, wheat, and orchard hays and will leave his pellets and greens whenever he sees a fresh basket of hay.

My bunny did the same too with Timothy. I buy him a blend of oat, wheat, and something else, I forget. But he loves it and eats it up just like yours. Just goes to show they have special tastes.

Mine likes Timmy and Orchard. I think she prefers Timothy, but I am allergic to it. She gets orchard and sometimes, Meadow grass. I have recently given her Oat and she nommed it up

I think bunnies like orchard because it smells sweet. It smells sweet to me.

My boyfriend is also really … really allergic to timothy hay. He gets weezy and he’ll break out in hives on his neck. So Orchard hay is the cure then? I think someone told me to try orchard earlier but I can’t remember. I have a bale’s worth of first cut timothy to go through lol so maybe in a while I’ll get him some new hay. It didn’t occur to me that the first cut would have all the flowers…. and pollen still on the grass rofl -.- I feel like an idiot for not noticing that!

Cactus, If your boyfriend is that allergic to timothy, I would get orchard grass right away and switch his hay rather than waiting til the timothy is gone. Why prolong his suffering? The majority of buns love orchard grass so it is a very good alternative. The remainder of your timothy bale could be donated to a rabbit rescue who would certainly appreciate it.

Two of my bunnies will eat orchard all the time. It is their favorite type of hay.

It is little bit of higher protein than timothy hay but it’s okay as long you don’t feed high protein vegetables to your bunny.

None of my bunnies like to eat Oat hay. Oh well.

Later in future, I’m planning to get bluegrass hay from KM to see if my bunnies will like it too.
