I know you’re all thinking… “Uh no Beka… no you didn’t.  We know you better than that…”

But I did… I got smartPHONED!  Went out and got my very first smartphone yesterday.  I’ve never even had the basic internet access on my phones before.  So it’s going to be interesting trying to figure out what exactly I can do on this thing.  It doesn’t seem complicated… just super involved.  But I know I’m very good with computers and technology in general, so I think I’ll be fine.

I have Verizon, so I got the Droid X with Android OS.  I’m excited to start playing around with it!

Who has a smartphone, what do you like about it?

I have one of the old Verizon Droids and I love it! I used to have a blackberry then switched to just a basic phone for a while to try and save some $, but then I switched back to a smart phone! There are so many things you can do with them it is crazy! I love the internet access, the apps (there are so many free ones I hardly pay for one unless it is a really good one), The location features that have all the gps in it, just too many little nifty features! You will get used to it quickly! Enjoy!

Is this the phone that says “droid”? My phone is about 10 years old but I’m really wanting an Iphone – everyone I know who has one of these raves about it.

I have a BlackJack II, which I’ve had for over two years now, and I really like it, BUT there are two things I don’t like about it. It has the QWERTY keyboard , which I DO like. The problem is when you get a phone number with letters in it, it really screw me up. I know you don’t have to be a scientist to figure it out, but it does cause some slight delays in typing in the number cause what you see on your phone is not the same as like on a house phone. ALSO, the internet on it is not that great (hard to navigate, etc), but then again, I don’t think any internet on any phones is all that great! lol. Overall, I really am happy with this phone and it is the best cell I’ve owned. I’m gonna hate the day it self-destructs!lol

It took me weeks to decide not to get a smart phone, and my reason was due to monthly bills being so much higher. So I got a Verizon plan LG Cosmo for the next 2 years with the ability to text and possibly link to internet, but haven’t signed up to pay for the service yet. Hard choice, since I heard the Blackberry had superior sound quality, and I can never talk on my cell without it bothering my ears!!!!

Congrats, Beka. And I’m still thinking I know you better than that…LOL!

I have the HTC Incredible with the android stuff. lol I love it! I love that I can get my emails on it, play games, store pictures, able to chat with friends online, etc. It took awhile to get used to not having the Qwerty keybord but it’s fine now. The only thing that bugs me is when I’m on the phone call, the screen is so sensitive that sometimes my cheek hits the end call button and hangs up on me. Or I accidentally hit the mute button with my cheek. Fortunately, the only people I’ve accidentally hung up on are my parents. lol But I could never go back to the “regular” phones now.

                          How exciting!!

I’ve been a Blackberry user for years and I love having the ability to look up directions, movie times, restaurants, or whatever I need. I hear the Droid X is an awesome phone and if Verizon doesn’t come out with an iPhone next year I’m thinking of getting one myself!

I just got the G2 fro Tmobile last week. I too never had an internet phone. I had to get a new sim card since I got mine wet, and I loved how it sync’d up with facebook and I got most of my friends numbers back right away just from that. I love it! Cruisin BB during class lol

I don’t own a cellphone (yes I am serious). But my dad gets every new phone that comes out on the market so far my favorite phone he has is the Droid R2D2 which is just a Droid 2 that looks like R2D2 and I am a Star Wars nerd so I love it.

As for the way they work I like the EVO 4G and just about any blackberry ever made.

i have a berry. the new curve. i love love love it. lots of my peeps also have berries and so we can bbm (blackberry mesenger) for free – no text rates. i schedule everything on it including chores and grocery lists and it syncs with outlook on my laptop when i charge it. but the best is to be able to receive / send emails. its so handy.

I was eligible for an upgrade back in August… but just like with computers, there’s always something brand new coming out. So I got stuck between getting something new right now, or waiting 3 months or waiting 6 months… and seeing what’s around the bend. I had an old, creaky EnV2, which has been trusty, but it just seems so archaic compared to what’s out now. My brother has the X so I’ve messed around with his and I thought it was something I could get used to.

Bunbuns, my phone goes black (the screen turns off) when you raise it against your ear. This prevents you from accidentally pushing buttons… so that’s a nice feature!

Katie… YES! Angry Birds rocks! I’ve been reading thru the Droidlife site here and there since the X was released, still trying to make a final decision on what I wanted to do. So I heard about that app coming available the other day. This is another nice thing about a smartphone I am finding out… with a young child, you always have an emergency source of entertainment/games (if the doctor is running late, you’re stuck in traffic, etc…)

Sonn… I had a cell phone when I was younger, but then I was always home with our son (or out with my husband/other people who had phones), so I ended up canceling it when my contract ran out. I couldn’t justify the added cost, so I did not have one for about 5 years. I finally got one 2 years ago when I was starting school full-time again. I was going to need to drive downtown everyday (in not the best neighborhoods), so I figured I’d want to have one again just in case. At that point, I had hardly ever texted anyone… and I was in my 20s! LOL! I know some people don’t want/need them, and that’s fine! Landlines are still widespread enough that you can get by. Plus, usually everyone else has one.

I love them but just have no use for one right now lol. I used to keep on top of all the newest phone’s but I was trying to have “me time” out and about one day and got so many calls that I just cancelled the plan on the spot and sold the phone a week later. The quiet was AWESOME!

Plus I am also amused at people’s reaction when they want to borrow my phone and I tell them I don’t own one. LOL
