Looking for a hay rack that is edible and attaches to the side but includes the string or whatever. I don’t want to have to go out and find twine and spend twice as much on that lol. Also kind of top loading with a bottom dispenser would be perfect. Reasoning is my boyfriend is…. well pretty damn allergic to hay. Like hives on the throat and anaphalaxis type allergic to hay. This means I can’t put the hay on the floor anymore… which upsets me but I don’t want michael to die in his sleep lol. I need a hay rack that won’t allow the bunny to just pull it all out in one go. Mostly temporary untill the bunny room is finished, then he can have all his hay bedding he wants lol.

Also… he was the one that picked Franz. Kind of upsets me a little he didn’t research more about bunnies. He actually asked me; “can we feed him something else besides hay?” -.-

You could try different kinds of hay. People seem to react the most tot he timothy hay, but react less to somethign like orchard grass. try different varieties, and see if he is better with a different kind.

You might want to look into this one. I have their all-metal one and both bunnies love it. The one in the link is mostly wood – edible untreated wood. You might pass a cord or twine through the holes in the back and attach it that way. But I think you’d need to get the twine.

It’s a great feeder though. Take a look at all their feeders.

I think I’ll get a wire one.. you’re right he doesn’t have to necessarily be able to eat it lol. I don’t want to sacrifice the bunnies health by getting him lower quality hay. I am giving him first cut timothy to hopefully help him get the most fiber and prevent wool block. I wonder if maybe second cut or third cut has less pollen? This stuff reeks like a barn and I think it’s because of the grass flowers on top. Does anyone know if the second or third cuts have less pollen than first cuts?

Orchard grass isn’t a lesser quality hay. It’s nutritional values are pretty much the same as timothy hay, and all my bunnies loooove it.

Definitely try orchard hay. Many people who are highly allergic to timothy are fine with orchard. My buns have been only on orchard for about a year now and they love it. And you can still buy it in large bulk boxes from Oxbow or American Pet Diner, etc…

I like the rolling the hay ball and have it attached to Lago’s cage. Keeps the hay from going everywhere. I am horribly allergic to timothy hay, so Lago eats oxbow orchard grass and loves it. Luckily I’m not allergic to orchard grass hay.
