i got one of those mineral stones for my rabbits. it’s pink and in the shape of a carrot. neither of them have so much as licked or nibbled it even once! dont think they even know what it is. do your rabbits actually chew them or is it just one of those things pet stores recommend and rabbits couldn’t care less about?!

One of the many, many things pet stores sell that rabbits don’t need. They can actually dehydrate themselves as it basically just a salt lick. So you can throw it out or if you paid a lot for it, you could see about taking it back.

It sounds like a salt lick to me, a flavored one maybe. The mineral licks usually come only in brown wheels and are not needed for rabbits. I do provide mine with a salt lick, just salt no other minerals, because two of mine like them. Salt licks aren’t going to harm you rabbit, as long as they also have access to fresh water at all times. I guess, if they ate the whole thing it could be a problem… but some rabbits like a little lick of salt now and then. But it is not necessary to supply one since rabbit pellets contain salt already. Sounds like your rabbits don’t care for it.

Hmmm…ok. LOL I just thought they were all bad and/or not needed.

And obviously Eddie needed a salt lick. He liked my salty snacks. Yes, I know human food is a no-no. Eddie was a freaking goat though. Lolli is picky about food in general and the new bun will never get human food no matter if he’s picky or not. Learned my lesson!

whatever it is, i reckon i’ll bin it – it just sits there doing nothing, i’m pretty sure they haven’t ever licked it!

Like Petzy said, the pellets they get daily contain the necessary levels of minerals and salt intake. This is why, altho a fresh veggie/hay diet is closest to their natural diet, many of us still give a very small amount of pellets, so they receive a balanced diet.
