I think this has been one of the most inspiring stories of my lifetime!  So glad they are being rescued.

I hope these Chilean miners can now retire and make lots of money (they certainly deserve it).  It is quite a story.

The thing though that does make me sad is that they couldn’t save the miners at the Big Branch Mine accident in West Viriginia – I’m sure it’s totally different, but that was still very tragic.

I thought it was kind of amazing that they could run a camera down into the mine and show them as they were still trapped there.

I have been watching it live on CNN all day as well. I really hope these guys make it out without being too messed up or getting depressions that they will struggle with for the rest of their life.

I am so impressed by the foreman who has managed to keep the disciplin among these men for 17 days when they had no contact to the outside world and didn’t know if they were going to die. Also, just the fact that he has managed to make sure that every one got something to eat. He is a true hero

Oh, and to be slightly less serious – I am waiting for no. 21. The guy who has asked both his secret mistress and his wife to be there, but the wife has refused to. Good for her. Now I am just waiting for him to get up and there is no mistress either waiting for him. Oh, well, it is perhaps a bit harsh to wish that, because he has been through a lot, but this missy here don’t like cheating.

LOL – I didn’t hear that story Karla. What drama on top of drama! That will certainly make a good story though.

Yeah, look for Yonni Barrios, that cheater. Apparently, the two women met each other as the mistress also showed up at the camp to get in touch with him. His wife has declared that she has too much dignity for this, and if he is healthy, then she will leave him. His sister should be there though, just so you don’t get confused and think both the wife and mistress are there to greet him Man, I am digging up all the dirty stuff.

Well, apparently he’s up next! Wonder if he knows what is going on. You think they will mention that on CNN….

Ooh, his wife is there. And no one else. Looks like things perhaps have been sorted out back stage then.

Well, if that other miner made all of them sing Presley songs, they must be really tired of all his hits by now

EDIT: Nope, that was the mistress. The text just said “wife”. The does explain his less warm embrace.

That’s good they sorted it out (at least for now).

I love Elvis and can listen to him all day long – I sure don’t sound like Elvis when I sing though.

I saw on the news that his mistress would be there but NOT his wife. It always comes back to bite you! Even under the strangest circumstances!

Am amazing story, so glad these guys are ok. Hearing how everyones been working together to save them is wonderful. We’ve been talking about it at work a lot.
I heard about the wife and girlfriend story too LOL… we actually had a local story like that a few years back where a Asian Pilot had TWO families both in our city, each wife had two kids with him and didn’t know about each other for years. Since he had to travel a lot he could say he was gone and see the other family.
When the wives found out, one sued the other b/c she thought she was entitled to ALL his money not half.
I had a lot of questions about this, like how did he split his paycheque? How did people living in the same community not know? It was very very strange… I dunno how he pulled it off so long, sounds like WAY to much work to me.

I read that the last one out will get in the Book of Records for the longest survival of a mine collapse, a record that will probably stand for a very long time. I think they should all be listed!

It is truly amazing. I stayed up WAAAAY TOO LATE last night watching the coverage. I was not a happy camper at 5am when I had to be up. Of course as the first couple men surfaced… I cried… couldn’t help it. It was very touching seeing them embrace their families.
