This is going to be a fantasy thread.

If you designed your perfect home, odd or conventional, yurt or villa, what would it be like?

How big would it be? Where would it be?

What materials would it be made from? What room lay-out would it have? How many?

What colors would you like the walls to be? Every detail is allowed!

Oh, God, Petzy…don’t get me started!

I LOVE log homes. They always seem so welcoming and cozy. Probably has something to do with me growing up in a small mountain town in Colorado.

Obviously, my home would be a log home. It would be modest-sized, but big enough for a family. Maybe with 1 or 2 smallish bedrooms on the 2nd level, and 1 master bedroom on the 1st level. It would have a big, open living room with a door that led into the kitchen and dining room. It would be located at the edge of a city and would have around 7-10 acres of land (which is probably either an impossible or very expensive location…blech).

Now the fun part: What the rooms would look like!

My kitchen would look something like this, but with counters like this – and obviously, it would be in a log home.

The living room would have dark wood floors like these. The inside of the living room would be something like this.

The bedrooms would be filled with log furniture too, like this.

Also, the stairs would be log stairs, and there would be a balcony on the second floor…I’m thinking something like this.

In other words: My dream house is made of about 95% logs.

Ooh, Fluffybunny, can I come stay for a holiday? :o)

Funnily, my home would be made of straw. I know, it’s starting to sound like The Three Little Pigs! Lol.
I like the straw bale homes. I would have it solar powered. Smallish in size an on a little bit of land. I’d like most of the materials used to be recycled/repurposed. I love the character that can bring and that everything had a previous life. I would focus ALOT on having things designed so it’s an easy to clean home without it looking sterile. And of course the home would be animal friendly!

Well I haven’t thought too far on the details as yet…I’ll get onto that. ;o)

big house on a farm, a large room that attaches to an enclosed outside run, with lots of ramps and such build all around for cats, so they could safely go oustide, a really big room for gerbils..perhaps an attached heated and a/c garage devoted to them. a barn outside converted to a kennel so that I can have my own small boarding kennel on my property, with a fenced in pond and a sheep area, plus a correl with agility equipment and such. aside from the animal specific area’s I havent though much about it lol

hehe! I hope not! Hopefully they won’t catch on that it’s straw. It’s reinforced & covered in wall plaster so as long as that’s not tasty, then I think I’m safe.

We went up to Maine in August and they have these big beautiful houses, I think “Cape Cod” style and they have breezeways that attach to a barn or garage, so it’s one large structure. I love how they looked! Very unique and different from the “cookie-cutter” houses. I guess I would like a more country-feel to the house, I’m not into very modern styles. I went thru a stage where pretty much all I watched were those home decorating shows, but it’s difficult to really pinpoint a style. I like cooler colors, blues and greens… I’d love a big kitchen.

I really enjoy sprawling type homes – think of something you would find in the British country side and I will probably love it. Definitely something with a bit of land and a barn for a house or two! I’d love to have a nice big pond/small lake as well so I can sit on my front porch and look out over the water in the mornings.

I really love the north east and would be happy living in upstate NY or any of the New England states. Living near the ocean would be a bonus! I also love the sprawling NE houses covered in cedar shingles.

As far as decorations go, I think this house is pretty much my style: http://www.younghouselove.com/2010/05/house-crashing-lovely-light/

I’m loving white kitchens right now! When we buy a house next year, I defintely want to re-do the kitchen with white cabinets and dark counter tops (and the same medium colored hardwood we’ll put in the rest of the house).

A modern villa that was designed after an ancient Roman Villa. And it would be by the ocean. I already live a block in from the ocean and would not want to give tha up!

Mine would be a ranch style house with a wrap around porch. The rabbits would have a huge room of their own. And a big, bright kitchen with a breakfast nook (I’ve always wanted one!!) The rooms would have themes: Jungle theme, Egyptian theme, Victorian theme.

Of course it would be a farm with a big stable for my horses and assorted critters, outdoor and indoor riding rings. The whole property would be surrounded by trees and a big fence so the horses can roam free around the grounds. Huge garden with gazebo and pool. And a pond. I’ve always wanted a pond.

What a dreamer I am! I’d better start buying more lottery tickets…

It’s a deal, Petzy. Instead of paying rent, you can bond my bunnies!

You would have to keep getting more bunnies then, cuz after awhile, yours would be bonded

Let’s see. My dream house. Farmhouse style, but bigger. I like large rooms, not the tiny closet sized bedrooms people have to live with in new homes these days. Wood floors throughout, so I can redecorate by simply putting down a different area rug. Would need a finished basement, thats where my foster buns would live. Main floor would be for my own bunnies. Large gourmet kitchen, so I can invite my friends that love to cook over and they wouldn’t be bumping into everything. Lots of color. I love color. Each room would be a different color. Lots of wood tones too. I’m a fan of the dark cherry, but hubby prefers the lighter tones, so we’d likely have different wood types for each room lol. Large yard with a garden full of bunny nommies. Hot tub. Pool. Large deck with BBQ. Firepit. OO a room somewhere for a pool table inside too.

I know I have more things I have on my necessities list for when we buy a house, but thats all I can think of right now.

Well, I’m very intrigued by these little houses and if it was just me, then I would definitely downsize, maybe not this small, but small:

                                      http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2007/02…DIOSS.html

Right now with my rabbits, this would not be possible, I do need and want a good bathroom and kitchen, not quite so bare bones as some of these homes but the simple life style sounds good to me.

I dream big but realistically I would be happy with just a bigger rabbit room and bathroom. I have a small house but it’s cozy and big enough for me and my Man. I also wish our neighbors were not like 2 feet from us because they are total freaks on both sides and I hate going outside. Plus my ex-boyfriend lives right behind us. What a situation.
