Okay, so Mimz flat out refused his benebac tonight and I tried 3 times, the last was with a slice of banana which he ignored, pooped on and then began digging furiously at to make it go away.

Question: Is it okay to give him his dose straight from the syringe tube it’s stored in? Or will that be too dangerous (as in overdose) or germ up the tube so it can’t be used for the other bunnies?

This stuff is icky, sticky and gorilla-snot green, so I can’t blame him for not liking it. But it also is impossible to put into any other syringe for dosing. >.<

        Many thankies!

I would buy (or clean out an older one or get from the vet) a same size or smaller syringe. Then put the right doseage into the fresh one close to the tip. Then use that syringe to squirt it directly into his mouth from the side and back of his mouth opening. That will be the right dosage only, and that’s the place where they will take it most easily. You can hold him with your other hand or have someone else hold him down, meatloaf style, while you get next to his side and poke it into his mouth between his teeth. (Move his ear out of the way. Lops. Good grief.) It should work and he won’t OD.

I have always given mine from the syringe that it comes in and have never had a problem. I think that’s why it’s packaged this way to administer it directly from the tube.

I don’t think that you can overdose on this stuff either. If you properly use the syringe by taking the plastic portion that screws up and down to the proper dosage I don’t see how you can give too much since it will stop once you push the stopper up to the plastic screw it will stop.

I think you are making this way too difficult.

What about putting small amounts on his paws so that he grooms it off? Or would it just end up everywhere?
