I just found out that today (9/26) is International Rabbit Day. Is anyone doing anything for their rabbit(s)?

I’ll be making a “pellet cake” for the bunnies. Maybe I’ll use it as a chance to do a bonding session when I feed them.

That’s so cool, FB! I didn’t even know there was such a thing.

I’ll have to think up something fun for the babies : D

No pellet cake at my house, but the buns did get all new toys and I attended a International Rabbit Day progam at my local humane society put on by my regional house rabbit society, came home with a BALE of grass hay (horse bale not bunny bale) Buns are in heaven they have all of the local organic grass hay just waiting for them. It was much cheaper than the pet store so I was able to my hay money aside for my planned bunnyville habitat. The buns just earned an extra floor!

                Here’s the pellet cake recipe:

                Ingredients:
-About 1/8 to 1/4 cup fruit juice (or a juicy fruit such as an orange to squeeze)
                -About 1/4 cup Pellets
                -Cilantro or parsley
-Banana, squeezed pineapple or other “mushy” fruit (optional)
                -Raisins/craisins, oats or shredded carrots

                DIRECTIONS:
In a small cup, pour about 1/8 cup of fruit juice. Add the pellets. If necessary, add more fruit juice. Stir until the pellets dissolve. Pick up the dissolved pellets in your fingers and squeeze all of the fruit juice out of them. Tear up some cilantro or parsley and mix it into the pellets. Shape the pellets into a cake shape. Smear the banana, pineapple or other “mushy” fruit around the cake as “frosting”. Decorate the cake with raisins/craisins, carrots and/or oats.
