Frankie is a chewing MONSTER – there is nothing safe. Some of you might have read a few weeks back that we had to take him to the vet because he knocked himself out burrowing…. Since then, we’ve been trying to come up with ways to distract him but nothing seems to last very long!

We’ve got cardboard and spare carpet all over the place, which are fair game, and that leaves behind destruction like this:

You should have seen it before we hoovered up all the tiny pieces…

So when we got a new microwave, we thought we’d use the box to make Frankie a dig spot. This was the box yesterday, as we introduced him to it – it’s got carpet down, and some hay, and a few spy holes for him to look through:

He seems to rather like it, and has spent most of his time in it since:

And we knew he would dig, so I caught him in the act:

But then we looked around at the other side of the box:

        He’s almost destroyed it already.

I’m in shock that such a small thing can make so much mess and destruction in such a short space of time!

And just cos it’s cute, here he is, lounging around in his cage as if to say “so what?” (Frankie does a very cute lounge.)

Oh yeah, he digs up the newspaper in his cage too, as well as trying to dig up the newspaper in his litter box, and to top it off he chews his bed box too. I think we’re gonna need more cardboard….

Hilarious pictures! Love the bunny butt! We used to call Stormy “the Destructor” because he was the same way. Now it’s Bindi who destroys boxes. What a mess they can make with all those little cardboard pieces!

my bunny Mops was just like that! And, I’m sorry to say, he never grew out of it… which is why I couldn’t keep my rabbits upstairs any more at night because he was so loud. This is not to say that it won’t get better for you… I’m just reminiscing Mops…

                  hahaha … too cute.
Bo was a real destructor bunny as well, he’d even open my X-Mas gifts for me :p

Phones books… those seem to last pretty good (cuz theya re huge) and they make one heck of a mess.

Unpeeled willow is one we’ve been looking into – haven’t actually bought any yet but I’ve found some sites that sell it so we might give it a go.

Frankie seems to shun anything that isn’t cardboard – including the phone book, to my dismay. I ripped a few sheets and he had a little go, but he just doesn’t *go* for it like cardboard.

                        oh my he is adorable!

the renovations on his microwave box seem to be progressing smoothly. even small creatures like bun buns know that time is money. chop chop… get the reno work done so it can be flipped for profit! or should i say “chomp chomp”?

I caught Frankie in the act earlier this week, and it was so cute watching him slide around on his cardboard box that I recorded it, for your viewing pleasure.

Oh my goodness!  He looks just like my Sandy when we got her last year! (pic when we first got her)

I noticed in one of the pictures his eyes are all wide as he’s trying to chew a piece and she does the same thing.  She destoys a lot of stuff to but hasn’t done that much damage in that little time haha!  Is yours a mini lop?  Sandy is, she is now almost 7.5 lbs!  Hmm she needs a friend but a las I won’t bunnap Frankie, I already have several destructo buns   Oh and I love the video, I laughed seeing him scoot across the floor as he’s digging hehe!

Lol Aw! He could do an ad for that cereal there; “Another Crunchy Nut”.

I echo Ski’s question, how big is Frankie. Is he a pocket-rocket?

Wow, that really is the spitting image!

How big is he? Good question. He was only 1kg (2.2lb) when we took him to the vet about three weeks ago, but he’s grown a lot since then. He’s still pretty small, but Major is tiny by comparison. Frankie isn’t much of a pocket rocket, but he does like a go. So cute watch him tear up and down the room binkying!

Sandy was about 3 lbs when we got her fixed (about 6 or 8 months I think) and she’s about 1 1/2 years old and she’s now 7.3 lbs! She’s gotten so big! So enjoy Frankie being that small while you can because in no time he’ll be bigger!

Does he just tear or does he eat the cardboard? I want to see if there’s another crazy bunny named Frankie with an appetite for cardboard! Hahaha.

I assume since he’s young he isn’t fixed yet? That might help a little with the destruction.

I just love that your name is Rachel…. so is mine. LOL! He does seem to ingest some of it, but most he just leaves around the floor in little tiny pieces. *shakes fist*

Okay, so he’s going to get much bigger. At what age more or less do bunnies stop getting bigger? Major is still so small, we’re wondering if he’s going to get bigger. They’re both dwarfs so they might not get all the big, but I know that all dwarfs are different. Frankie’s not fixed yet but he’s coming up to the dreaded 16 weeks so we think it’ll be done some time soon. I’m a little bit sad/nervous that he’s going to be different afterwards – he’s got such a lovely personality, chewing included!

I have 9 months in my head as when they typically reach adult weight. I could (most likely) be wrong.

He may come in at about 6-7 pounds (say 2.5, 3kg?) Are you in the UK? In Australia and UK the dwarf lop is a medium size bunny. It’s known as the mini lop in the US. Though biggish, it is a dwarf version of a lop – French I think.

This can change a bit anyway due to them coming out of the baby stage. Not necessarily always to do with having being neutered.

Yeah, I’m UK based. I didn’t know dwarfs were called mini lops in the US – I’ve been looking at mini lops over here (my husband wants to kill me for wanting a third rabbit) and they’re generally much smaller than dwarfs. They’re so cute with their little tiny ears!

                                                *cough*

On an unrelated note, I went round our local farmers market on Saturday and asked all the veggie sellers if they’d heard of cilantro, which none of them had. When I looked it up on the internet, I found it to be coriander leaves. Now I understand the fuss – I HATE coriander, apparently as much as many other people on this website!

lol. Yes, I have to stop myself from using the American terms now because I get so used to them here on BinkyBunny. Like cilantro. Also Romaine lettuce which we call Cos lettuce here. My family sometimes laugh at me when I mention pounds or inches.

Dreya T, I think(not sure) what you know as the Mini lop there is called the Holland lop in the US.
