Last week I was in Quebec City. A beautiful City and I had a great time except for one thing…it’s like totally un-bunny! I wanted to get my guys a little present to bring back home so I went to 3 pet stores and they had next to nothing for bunnies. Just yucky looking hay, pellets and a couple of unhealthy treats. I went to a pet store that sells animal supplies as well as tons of animal themed houswares, accessories and nicknacks. Not one thing rabbit related!!! I ended up getting them some little kitty jingle balls (Olivia was very excited when I gave her this, when she really likes new toys she takes them into her house…it’s all mine. Not sharing!). At one pet store they had about a dozen itty bitty Mini-Rex’s that I had to squee over (don’t worry I didn’t buy anything in that store!)

I also always buy a plushie bunny on every trip I take. Nothing. I couldn’t find any freaking plush bunnies other than the build-a-bear store. I went to two 2-level malls. Nothing! I ended up buying a really cute squirrel plushie. I did enjoy the Hello Kitty store though!

We stayed downtown in the old fortified part of the city which was neat and near the hotel there was a park where I always saw the most beautiful squirrels. Huge black squirrels. We only have the little psycotic brown squirrels where I live. I actually seen a man downtown with a bunny, looked like a standard Rex, on a leash. The poor little guy looked absolutely terrified! The City is crazy busy and nosiy. I wanted to give him a piece of my mind but he was surrounded by tons of people wanting to pat the bunny.

Two other things I didn’t like though…one is they give horse drawn carriage rides in the city. I think this is cruelty to animals…horses shouldn’t have 10 hour jobs. And we went into a pub for supper and there was horse on the menu! I’ve never seen this before and I was super disgusted!! All I could envision was my horse’s flank being chopped off and put on a plate. Ugh…I hightailed it out of there and went to a nice salad and sandwich place.

I love Quebec City – it is so beautiful. I love the Hotel Frotenac.

I have to say I’ve never looked for pet stores or plush animals there though or anywhere I’ve visited.

I always buy a plush bunny as well.

One day, you should go to Japan. They have bunny everything, everywhere. Character lines devoted to bunnies. No joke.

I used to buy really cute Bento Boxes with rabbits designs on them.  On ebay, not in Japan (unfortunately).

Could it be that the french like rabbit more than other cultures do…. but just not in a pet sense?

Sarita- Yeah, the Chateau is incredible! We wanted to stay there but it was booked. I also loved all the statues all over the place. Very pretty.
