Duffy is a mini rex, and yet, I found some matted fur on his lower back and beside his tail. It felt chalky like urine and was reddish like urine. So I suppose he may have sat in pee accidentally.

I never thought rex fur could mat.

hhmm.. i guess it could specially if it had something sticky to help it get stuck together. Still not something that happens often with such a short coat.

I’m pretty sure it can, as well as stain. Spockie had the occasional clump and discoloration. It doesn’t have to be long to be sticky.

Lolli currently has a couple of….knots? – in her fur. I haven’t looked at them. I think it’s something going on with her spikes of shedded fur sticking up. lol And she got matted fur so to speak from the baytril I had to give her when she got her sores on her neck sutured. Her poor face was all matted down and stuff. lol

I was just surprised to find that rex fur around the bum/lower back is still quite long. I trimmed Duffy’s stuck-together fur out.

Stormy has what I call “crimpy butt hair” around his tail and bum. It’s quite a bit longer and curly and he gets mad when I comb it because it can get a bit matted.
