I was fully prepared for Stinker to not really like the new bunny or the new bunny to hate him.
We picked up the new bunny this morning. Put the new bunny in the bathtub while I washed all the blankets in StinkerBunny’s pen while he was out for his morning playtime. Made sure the litter was changed too, so no new smells mixed with old. Everything new. I got Stinker out from under the bed with veggies. He nom nom’ed on a couple and then realized I was sitting in his pen waiting on him. So he stopped “Hello…what do you want? Pets?” and flattened himself on the ground, so I pet him a while. Then I took him to the bathtub. Pet him some more. Put him in the tub. “Ohhhh what’s this??? A friend? Let me smell it” So he would lick the new bunny. All over…head, eyes, ears, neck, back. Very cute. New bunny flattened down and closed its eyes. They did this several times. I left them in the tub for a few hours. No fights at all. They are in Stinker’s cage. Perfectly happy. Lots of investigating by the new bunny and he or she hardly settles down. LOL Very curious and fast.
Oh but the poor thing doesn’t have splayed legs. It’s leg, the breeder says, was possibly broken when it was smaller. It sticks way out ..the back right one, at a right angle from its body.
I know, this post is no good without pictures. I took lots!! OH and I was wondering if anyone had name suggestions. I’ve started calling him or her Snow. He looks like Snow. I look over and they’re sharing a food bowl now. and I snapped a picture .
So this is Snow Notice the X’s in both ears. It’s kind of odd looking. He or she is a mini satin, red-eyed white, 6 weeks old. Just weaned but very, very sweet. He/she calms right down when you hold and pet and talk very nicely and softly to him/her.
Very interested in food right now and investigating. The food part is the only time he or she stands still. LOL
This is mostly what happens. Stinker licks every bit of “Snow” and then they part ways. Little bit later, it happens again. Right now, they are on opposite sides of the cage resting though.
I’m sorry you can barely see Stinker. He’s the dark blob on the right side. lol He was very interested in his veggies. I was worried about Snow eating them but he/she doesn’t seem too interested.
Loves pellets and hay though.
and then…this makes me feel good about getting Snow ….sharing the bowl. I’m surprised. I’m so glad they get along!! It could be that Stinker is only 5 months old and is neutered. I hope it lasts.
