My poor boy has been seezing his head off for days now…machine-gun fashion, benadryl or no…although he seems to do a little better when he’s had the benadryl for a few days in tandem, but I don’t use it everyday because I don’t want his bowels being agitated by the antihistamine.

It does seem to be repeating a pattern. Last fall (our trees are already almost bare here) he had more trouble with his sinuses. In spring it seems to get worse too. So along with a rather more dusty than usual large box of hay product this month, I’m guessing he just gets too much irritant in that flattened nose of his to deal with, and it has to come out somehow. (usually with a decent amount of goobers)

Plus Pip has just gone into shedmonster mode. Mimzy can’t even groom himself right now without starting to sneeze. Having exhausted all other avenues for a cause; teeth adjusted, antibiotics tried, habitat cleaning stepped up,…I have to wonder if it really is just allergies?

Is anyone else experiencing a snottier-than-usual bunny at this time of year? If so, please state what kinds of trees/flowers/etc that are either blooiming or dying around you at present. We’ve got birch, aspen, poplar and black spruce for trees. Lots of grasses going to seed  too. Our big seedpod producer right now is the fireweed and it will be thick in the air until snow hits, maybe in the next few weeks.

Not to mention my own sinuses are miserable also. When I feel like I have to take a zyrtec every night I know something’s up (my nose).

Halo has been sneezing a bit more. My only guess is that it has something to with her noms from the garden. All the basil, cilantro and clover is blooming and flowering but I’m not sure if that is all it is. We have some sumac trees starting to die and we have one very sick tree but I’m not sure what that one is..

It sounds like it might be allergies but i’m not sure if there is an allergy medicine you can give everyday to buns without risking tummy upset.
They probably should start working on that..:-)

By the same token, I am prone to sinus infections (get atleast 3 every year) and my worse ones are always around this time. I think the problem is worsened by my allergies. I also took some benydril last night so I know there is something in the air..

On a simular note, just be glad you don’t live down in North Carolina. My hubby’s sister lives there and she came up for a visit this summer and her car was covered (i’d say 1/2 inch thick) in yellow pollen. I started to sneeze just looking at her car..lol

Hopefully it is just allergies…poor Mimzykins. If it is, you can start bonding him

lolz…True that, MB! ^_^ I had him out on the bed last night (changed the bedding so that Jenna’s scent wasn’t everywhere, and took him out for a toenail trim…his tips were a good 1/2 longer than his quicks!) and trundled him over to Fiver’s pen. Fiver is so cute, he runs over to the door and just sets his face down on the bars so his lips protrude between the openings and then he puddles and just tooth purrs the whole time Mimz is sitting there. Mimzy was a tad more restless than usual, and kept trying to explore the bed, but he settled after a bit and they both got some good noserubs from me while they were sitting there all shmubbywubby. ^_^

Crymson, I used to live in California, and we had tons of acacia trees where I lived. For most of my life I had no allergy to them, then when I got into my late teens I began having terrible allergies during the spring, when that yellow pollen was just EVERYWHERE. Like a dusting of snow, except bright, baby-chick yellow…. 0_o Ugh!
You’d think in the ‘arctic desert’ of Alaska, we wouldn’t have pollen trouble. Alas…I think it’s almost worse here than it is where I used to live! >_<
