Went to the feedstore and bought a bale of orchard grass. Somehow we got it to fit into my mustang. I had 2 huge 60 gallon garbage bags that we wreseled onto it so we wouldn’t make a mess. The worker got it into my car, but it was my job to get it out.

They had lots of cute baby bunnies there ….. ohhh god DON’T ROLL YOUR EYES AT ME!!! I SEE YOU!!!

One even was kissing me all over my hands. Very cute. No I didn’t bring any home!! I am a changed woman! Aren’t you impressed by me?!!?

So I managed to get the bale out of my car, and somehow walk it into the garage. I really hope my neighbors were not looking…it sort of looked like a hay bale mating ritual dance!! I thought of recording my struggle for you all to see for fine entertainment…but I changed my mind!

I’m all sweaty and my arms ache…..   how heavy are hay bales? They are so beastly large.  100lbs?

I am looking forward to seeing if my allergies calm down after changing the hay. I also complained about the timothy I bought from them about the stickers in it. I told the guy that I had a hard time handling it, so I know my rabbits didn’t enjoy eating it. He said he knows, and that they hate unloading it and have to wear gloves. So I guess the next time I need timmy I will find it somewhere else or might just switch over to the grass perm. depending on how my sneezing goes. I mean I don’t know anything about growing hay but I guess it could be snobby of me to think that I can get hay without stickers but….they really hurt and would stab me.

A changed woman? What gives? was it the tub bonding that changed you?
A hay bale mating ritual? Is that what changed you? C’mon, what changed you? I want to know.

I don’t know, just feeling less impulsive lately. I think a lot of getting my bunnies fast was due to still grieving with my loss in the family. Just surrounding myself with things I loved made me feel better but then – the reality of how much more work I have now than when I just had Bun to care for caught up fast. It’s all fun though, but I just feel proud of myself for being able to be in proximity of cute bunnies and not just taking one home and figuring out what to do with it later. Lol, remember how I got Indy bun that way…I was like OMGGGgggg what have I done!!!! I was so stressed out because I didn’t have anything set up for him…just had to have him. I told him that baby bun gave me kisses and he better give me more to make up for the lack of them he’s given me lately!!!

They really really like this new hay more. It was so nice to handle too, very soft and smells great. I think I hurt my back tho, I hurt

I think I’m going to have to take some motrin and rest my back on a heating pad…it’s really starting to hurt. Shoot!!!!

Well, your rabbits are all fixed npw and paired up in duo bonds… that’s good. Over time you may get them all bonded but you can’t let them wear you out. I think the best thing would be to add Bun to one of the pairs if possible. It would make things easier.
Great that you got good hay and plenty of it! I have thrown out my back once or twice lifting a bale… they are way heavy, it can be deceiving~

Ugh. I got a 10 pound orchard grass in the mail Saturday. Got ready to dump it into the container.

DUSTY!! Urgh!! I started sneezing, watery eyes, coughing!!! I was on the couch under a blanket for 3 hours afterward trying to recover!!

I am allergic to the damn dust! I hate it!
Oh, the things we do for our toddlers….

Yea I would like to get Bun in with the boys, which we had talked about before. I think it’s the best plan, I really didn’t like seeing Bee fight. I should just let her and Indy be.

Aww Brit…ya the dust sucks. I just had a sneezing fit myself and that made my back hurt worse. Someone just called me though to come into work tonight and I had this great excuse about lifting a bale of hay and hurting my back!! Oh shoot!

I get hay from the feed store and it doesnt have stickers               ouch that would be annoying.

We get the canadian tim/alfalfa mix.    They dont carry straight timmy cuz the seller cheats them.  The canadian has the least amount of alfalfa. So we  get that and it is greener plus a little more expensive.   Worth it though they love it

I like the smell of Orchard Hay.

                              What is stickers?

I;m guessing those weeds that have heads that get stuck on everything…. First time I’ve heard of the term is on BB.com

Lin, would the store do deliveries to the house? That way you can save your back and not be exposed to cute bunnies. You’re brave going back there! I too have been able to go to a fodder store with rabbits for sale and also not take on home. (I normally avoid pet stores and places that have rabbits.) But there was a little mini rex that still has not gone out of my mind…

Sorry…stickers…prickles…stabby pointy things that hurt. Sticker bush? Thorns? Weeds with tiny thorns? Many names!!

I live really close to the feedstore…next time I’ll just wait for my brother or dad to help me out, or even my mom. Or I can just not try to pick it up like I did …. *slaps self*
