Hay is like velcro to many carpets and fills a vacuum cleaner bag too fast. I wanted to share what I do when I clean my carpeted floor because it works quite well. Before I vacuum, I use a large slicker brush (the one witn the pointy tines) and run it over the carpet in areas where there is a lot of hay pieces. The brush picks up most of it and the rest vacuums up easily.

Yes! I just discovered this recently. It also gets up so much shedded hair when I don’t feel like hauling the vacuum upstairs and just want a quick clean of one area.

I just sweep my carpet with my regular broom before vacuuming lol. There’s too much hay everywhere for just a little slicker brush for me

I have a slicker brush dedicated to cleaned the carpet in the bunnies cages. Nothing works better lol
I want a plastic bristled broom for upstairs, as it’s my hair that get’s caught in the vaccum head :p It’d work for hay too

YEs I found that sweeping helps when I dont’ feel like dragging the shop vac out.

I use the slicker brush on ruby’s wire cage bottom.  Trying to get her hair out the bars.  She has a nice big piece of plastic to lie on and she loves it.  Wire just cant be comfy
