I recently acquired a cat, or I should say a cat acquired me. She was wandering around my apartment complex starving and begging for handouts. Long story short, I started feeding her, no one claimed her, I’ve had her spayed, and she’s become a permanent resident.

Anyway, this past Saturday I took her to the vet for these small bumps that appeared on her ears. They aren’t scabs, just small bumps. The vet decided to start by treating it has an allergic reaction to something, like hives. She got a steroid injection, antibiotics, and has been getting some children’s Benadryl. They looked like they were disappearing late that last Saturday evening, but it looks like its gone back to where it was before.  We have a re-check this week.

I went ahead and got her Natural Balance Green Pea and Duck food; it has no grain ingredients. I can think of a lot of other things that could be a cause of allergic reaction and I’ll discuss all those with the vet, but I’m posting to see if anyone here has ever experienced this sort of thing with their cats?

I think things like mites and fleas cause scabs to form, at least with fleas cause they draw blood, I guess mites do too. The vet did do a culture off of a swipe of the inside of the ear. And there was nothing off of that.
