The new rabbit seems to like us so far and is very happy to be out of the very tiny cage he lived in for his first months of life at the feed store .My husband brought him home to ease the pain of losing our much loved Marshmallow .Being that my husband bought him at the feed store with out talking to me about it he didnt find out ANYTHING about him other than he is a rex lol men. I asked how old is he ? Is it a boy or a girl hubbys just shrugs and says they didnt tell him and he didnt think to ask plus acording to hubby the people at the store didnt even asist him in getting a box to carry him home or even getting the poor thing out the cage! It was the weekend so all I can think is some part time kid was the in charge pfft .Ill have to wait till tuesday to call the store and find out the info i very much need .All in all he is doing well and looks healthy clear eyes moves well sweet personality(but dont even try to pick me up or ill shred you ) still a bit on the shy side but is coming around nicely .He looks to be im guessing here 3  to 4 months oldish but i realy dont know honestly i never had a rex before and i dont know how big they should be or if he is a mini or not .I am refering to him as a he only because from a behind veiw with a little feeling around i can feel as my son called the pebbles but i know rabbits are hard to sex and i realy need to get him on his back to see for sure and boy i have the scratches to prove he doesnt like being picked up from getting him out of his cardboard carrier and he needs a nail trim badly but i hesitate doing that just yet i dont want to ruin our relationship in the first few days by torturing him poor little guy.Anyways ….We are calling him Dexter ( hubby named him ) for now .Litter habits seem to be good and he LOVES his new big ol water bowl lol .In his tiny tiny cage barely big enough for him to do much of anything but sit lay and stand he had a bottle .Marshmallow hated the bottle and that was the first ting to go when we got him so i didnt even try to give Dexter one and just used Marshys bowl .Dexter thought it was a wading pool splashing and standing in it its so cute and messy but oh well as long as he is happy .His color is i dont know maybe you rabbit fans can help me out its a mix of browns light and dark with white tips around his eyes and on his oh so cute ears.I let him out for a bit this evening and he was doing huge binkys for us i am charging the camera so i can post a vid if i can catch him doing it again.Im already in love with him I am missing Marshy something awful but just being close to Dexter has a calming affect on me and it makes me so greatful that my husband would bring this needy little soul for us to love .So enough with the blah blah and on with pictures its realy what all you bunoholics want to see lol enjoy

this is the best one I could get of his cute little face

Hello Dexter! Lovely colouring. Reminds me a little of Puffy’s Stormy. Is he a rex rabbit?

He is beautiful! I love his coloring. He looks big with long ears, I’m wondering if he may be a standard rex. Also, I don’t think he looks like a baby at all. Let us know what the store says. Make sure to ask how long he had been there.

Thanks Beka I thought the same about his ears but if he is a standard rex he has to be a baby he is only 4 or 5 pounds and I agre he doesnt look like a baby. Because of the holiday Ill have to wait untill tomorrow to talk with the store, sigh, I want to know . In any case he seems perfectly happy and is chewing on EVERYthing he can land his teeth on silly bunny thats gonna take some getting used too. Marshmallow did not realy chew on my things all that much but Dextar seems to want to taste everything lol . Yes Jersey he is a rex when I opened the box I told hubby wow you got a rex!He says thats the only info they gave him on the rabbit, helpful people I cant belive how soft his little body is and plush I could pet hi  all day if he let lol give him time and he just might

He’s gorgeous. I love him! Like Jersey said, he reminds me of a darker version of my Stormy. How much does he weigh? If he’s full grown his weight will tell you if he’s a mini or standard but he’s definitely a rex. I can see the plushyness of his fur.

He’s gorgeous, but I agree he doesn’t really look like a baby. I still want him, and you can never have too much rabbitude.

Chances are good he’s a mix too, petstores don’t typically have purebreds. Standards are up around 8 pounds, minis around 4. He could be a combo of both. Doesn’t really matter tho. He is so sweet!

Thanks everyone I also think Dexter is beautiful .I just love to pet him he is soooo soft .I did get ahold of someone today at the feed store where he came from that knew a bit more about him than the guy who sold him to my husband.Dexter is in fact a male so he gets to stay a Dexter although he might have even if he turned out to be a girl lol when we got my daughters cat we were told he was a girl so we named him misty only to find out later that he was a boy lol but misty stuck anyways…Acording to the lady they had him about 6 weeks so she thought he was around 15 weeks old and wouldnt get too much bigger than he is now .Dexter is a mini rex all my questions answeared whoo i feel better just knowing all the info lol Next step is the  the vet to get him fixed I am lucky were I live males only cost 60 dollers and females arent much more  I take him to a local vet that also sees the rabbit rescue in Baton Rouge so she is very bunny savvy and very sweet .Off to make some calls and get that appointment made poor little dexter but it for all our own good

I’m skeptical about his age, at only 15 weeks/4 months old, he wouldn’t be full-grown. But regardless, you’re getting him into the vet to be looked at. The vet should be able to help you further.

I agree Beka  the age thing makes me wonder but the vet will know if he is fully grown and I belive he is. He even has a very small dewlap( im sure I got the spelling wrong) under his chin or at least thats what it looks like to me ,and Marshmallow didnt get that untill he was fully grown .But, I really dont care, he is a joy .He is starting to really enjoy his adventures outside the pen although he still prefers it and spends most of his time in with the door open, silly bun I figure with time he will get better used to the day to day here and come out more .He likes to binky when I have my back turned and I olny get a glimse of it when he catches me looking zoom back in the pen he goes to lay around like he never left it .At least he feels secure in there and that makes me very happy Thanks for your in put thought it realy helps i am so glad I can come here and talk with others like me who are bunny crazy and being able to get adivice fro you guys has been heaven sent .Plus I realy enjoy reading about all your buns adventures and getting my daily dose of other bunny cutness it makes my day I even got my husband peeking at bunny pics and his most favorite part is the habitats he keeps saying hes gonna build one so we will be borrowing some ideas soon

Hmmm. Dewlaps usually only form on boys if they are a little on the chubby side. Dewlaps on girls are much much more common.
