Yaaay! Phew! I nearly bumped up your other thread as I was getting worried without any updates!

I see now why you may have been distracted. He’s beautiful! He has sweet butterfly markings. I love the name you’ve chosen too. Malachi, not the other one lol
How has he settled in? And how’s it been for you, having a bunny to spoil again?

He seems so small to me (my last one was 12 lbs and Malachi is about 4). He’s supposed to be neutered, is there any way to tell? And I haven’t yet found a treat that he likes well enough to use as a training bribe – he won’t touch even a banana!

I did wonder as he appeared smallish in your pictures.

Are you able to handle him, turn him over to check his bits. I think sometime you can see a tiny scar line
where the sacs would normally be. I have seen this on one bunny but not my own as he’s too fluffy there. Other then that,
if his urine isn’t really smelly. Unfixed buns urine smells stronger. Refresh my memory, did your husband pick him up from the original owner or
from someone who was fostering? Would there be any way to obtain his previous vet records?

What a beautiful bunny! I think mine is the cutest in the world, but I’m starting to envy all these lops with their dreamy soft floppy ears.

I was wondering the same about mine (re: whether he was fixed or not) because I read so much about unfixed male bunnies being sexually aggressive, biting, unpleasant-smelling urine sprays, etc. Bun-Bun did none of that, except for spraying a few times, and it didn’t smell like anything to me… not sure if that’s because he’s a mini breed?

Anyway, I could see his testicles descend once in awhile when he was hopping around the room exploring (I guess usually they’re tucked up in a pouch in their abdomen or something?) They’re gone as of yesterday.  The vet will know whether your bunny is fixed or not for sure! Good luck with your precious new bun!

Malachi was taken in by a friend who has a barn for her show chickens, and he stayed in a cage for the months that she had him. She knew nothing about bunnies, so we messaged her care info, and she got him his own fan for those scorching hot Missouri days. I was so scared that something would go wrong and he’d die from novice care before Husband could pick him up. All we know is that he’s supposed to be an 18-month-old neutered male, so I assume he was a pet at some previous time. His urine does not, thankfully, smell as strong as one of our other buns did. He’s very docile and lets himself be picked up and turned over, and he never nibbles on anything he shouldn’t, but that may be because he’s not used to being out. In his first week here, he’d run around a little and then head home for a flop – I think he was out of shape and exhausted! By the way, it was Husband’s turn to name a new critter and his first choice was “Dinner.” (Husband has a quirky sense of humor, and was told to keep thinking. *sigh*)

Oh, congratulations! What a beautiful bun! ^_^ And give your hubby a poke from me for the ‘dinner’ comment….he sounds like my husband with the weird joking. *shakes head* I guess I just don’t get ‘guy humor’.

Malachi is one of my favorite names from Father’s Book. How did you decide upon it?
