Well, I have been going over and over the logistics of trying to get Bun back from the person who has been taking care of her for me during my deployment, and I don't see how I can do it realistically since I will be unemployed and homeless once I leave here (middle east). So I would like some advice on how to go about rehoming her, considering I am halfway across the world and she is in California. The person taking care of her is near Corona del Mar, so if anyone is interested or knows someone I should contact please let me know. She's a wonderful rabbit, litter box trained and spayed and very rarely chews or digs or is destructive in any way. She always had full range of the house when she was with me but I'm not sure what he has set up for her, since we had a falling out and hardly ever talk.

Oh yahoo groups there was a group that would transport rabbits when they would go to rabbit shows or happen to be in a certain area and pass the bunny to the next person til it reached its destination.

Worked quite well.

I forget the name of the group though.   I got it from a rabbit group that had to do with breeding showing and purebreds.  It has been so long I dont' even remember my passwords for yahoogroups.

Gosh right when you need something you can't remember it.  Maybe it will come to me in a day or so.

I am so pleased to be hearing this, great news!!  Do you mind saying what the name of the rescue group is?   Fingers crossed it all goes ahead smoothly for you and Bun.

I know this doesn't help much but my Husband & Son are visiting family in Washington State & in Northern Oregon- Hood River. They will be driving back to the East Coast on I think around November 15. I am not sure where you live but he could probably pop a bunny in the truck on their return trip. He pretty much goes through Idahon, Montana, Wyoming, Indiana, on through to Eastern North Carolina. Plenty of states in between there as well. I think his route will depend on weather & of course road construction which he hit in almost all states going out to the West Coast. If you have decided to give her up, I would caution you to go to Craigslist as the absolute last resort. Since your foster person caring for her now is in a town that you know the location of, I suggest doing a search of shelters and veterinarians in that immediate area to relocate her to a place that will care for her properly and rehome her for you. You can also find rabbit shelters on Petfinder.com by putting in the zip code and seeing what shelters come up. They tend to be the no-kill shelters for bunnies, so you can probably find a good place or network of fosters via their site too.

Craigslist is frequented by snake owners who want small animals for food, and won't hesitate to lie to the person placing the rabbit to obtain it. It's scary. I wouldn't want that to happen to yours.

OMG... at first when I was reading this I was thinking "what's wrong with craigslist? I found all sorts of cute bunnies!" and now I'm horrified... I never thought of using craigslist for snake food! That's horrible!!  I bet they do it cause the bunnies are free
