I just noticed my bunny tends to grind his teeth while pooping, and his eyes are also half closed; looks like he's sleepy or something o.o Other than that, he seems quite energetic and normal, I was wondering if anyone else experiences this with their bunny? Should I bring him to the vet? Thanks!

Well, normally teeth grinding while pooping can indicate pain if it's that heavy duty grinding. Is he straining to poop?

Wow, that's pretty weird LOL Maybe he really enjoys pooping? lol.... How do the poops look? Does he just poop in one spot or all over? Does he look uncomfortable, maybe hunched a bit when he is doing this? I think it's hard to kinda know without seeing him, but if the poops are to large, hard or strung together he coudl be grinding his teeth becuase it's uncomfortable or even painful to poop. Then I would definetly want to see a vet adn get him checked out. If everything else is fine, I maybe just remember to let the Vet know on next check up, and untill then keep an eye on him and his poops

Well he grinds for a few seconds then stops, then repeats. He tends to poop in one spot. I don't know if he's straining or not, but sometimes he can sit there for quite a while, maybe like 5 minutes? I'm not sure how long it should take a rabbit to poop, new owner here! XD His poops don't see to be too big...they're usually a golden/dark brown color and every once in a while he'll have a stringy poop here and there.

Stringy Poo means that he is ingesting his hair. Have you tried grooming him? Also, touched his belly?

I have tried to groom him, but he always runs off. Sorry but what do I need to touch his belly for? Still new at this ^^;

Well, you need to groom him Bunnies shed about 4 times a year, and if they aren't brushed, there could be a problem if they ingest too much fur. They can't throw up hairballs like cats and dogs do. What I do is, I put a clean towel on the bathroom counter and put my bunny on it (close the door if you can) and I pet her and I begin to pull her hair in the opposite direction. Hair tends to get loose and I brush it. I groom her for approx 10 mins. Make sure to give a treat as a thank you If he has a potental blockage, it would be stuck in his intestines. I'm not 100% sure. I would suggest waiting for another member to reply that has more experience.

I think a trip to the vet would be a good idea. If he's sitting there for 5 minutes first, it may be because he is having trouble going, so you want to be sure he isn't blocked. The fur in the poo is ingested hair. But if it's built up it could lead to a serious problem. I would advise making a vet appointment, but try to bring a little sample in a baggie or tissue of the different color and sized poos as well as one with fur. It may help the vet see what the problem is, or take a sample test without having to wait for a new one. Also she can show you how to gently groom him so he will learn to like it and stay still for you. He might be sensitive to which type of comb/brush you use. {{{{{{feel better}}}}}}}}

My rabbit hated being brushed i think i tried every way to brush her, the only way she will not go mad is if shes chilling out in her cage, coz shes relaxed and in her house & I have a lionhead so shes extremley fluffy and i use a very fine brush to get most of her furr off. As for the pooping and teeth grinding i would go to the vet, my first rabbit grinded his teeth and i found out that he developed constipation, teeth grinding can be a sign of pain and he might have trapped gas. Yeah that was my thought too when I first read this post. Maybe he likes to poop lol Seriously though a vet check might be a good idea just to be sure there is nothing wrong. If there is something wrong better to catch it right away. The tummy bit. Gently massaging the stomache may help pass things if he is having troubles with blockages. Don't take this as a cure though. If something is wrong a vet exam will help bun bun out
