Hi, This is so off bunny topics but I can’t find any clear instructions on what I need to do to hook up my cable, ie. Directv cable box, to my unused computer LCD flat screen monitor instead of my clunky old TV that just died.

The cable from the monitor is the wide blue kind that fits into the back of a computer, including my laptop, but the cable hook up is a round plug kind. I think I need an adapter, and all I’ve learned from an internet search is that people have been doing this.

Any advice? Instructions? Photo illustrations would be helpful. Thanks.

(If you get it working, I promise I will watch bunny shows on Animal Planet.)

Can you take a pic of the hook ups on your monitor?

you do need a different plug for it.you could try looking at the company website of your monitor cuz they usually have instructions.

And is it just a cable, or do you have a cable box?

Thanks you guys. Bunnymum, that article was just right. The guy at Radio Shack was the most helpful. Unfortunately, a box is necessary and they run at least $100, plus he said it doesn’t work very well. So I’m just going to shop for TV’s on sale (I have one in mind via Consumer Report) instead. At least I tried this option.
