Hello All!
I'm sure if Charlie wasn't too busy chowin' down on his Alfalfa he'd be saying "Hello!", too! What a little heffer! Sometimes I wonder if I accidentally brought home a pig instead of a bunny.
I'm Becca, and Charlie is an adorable little Holland Lop that will be turning three months shortly. He's mostly white, however he has spots of dark and light brown here and there, and a cute little line down the middle of his back that we call his "racing stripe". He also has a mustache, haha!
Though it feels like I've had him for much longer, he has been with me now for just a little over a month. After much research and hunting for just the right breeder, I brought my little baby home on the day of my nineteenth birthday - July 9th. Happy birthday to me! I'd visited the breeder's house a month before I could actually bring him home to pick him out and I swear it was love at first sight. Within the first five seconds after sitting down with all of the babies he hopped up into my lap and sat on my leg, deciding to chew on my jeans and stake his claim. Since that day I've been his own little slave.
I swear, this last month with him has been absolutely amazing. He's such a good little boy! He has full range of my bunny-proofed room whenever I am home, and so far I don't have any complaints. He uses his litter box, there isn't any digging/chewing, and he loves to follow me around while I'm getting ready or cleaning. He's also eager to come and use me as his own personal jungle gym in when I come home from work/class and lay with him on my floor. My parents are so impressed with him that in the evenings they'll often let him run around the house after things have been picked up. ... Of course I still keep an eye on him. Especially because he thinks my old-aged dog is his best friend, and she'd rather not even have to breathe the same air as him.
Recently he's started to come around to being petted -- particularly on his cheeks, or scratched just behind his ears. He doesn't much want to cuddle, but he does have his moments where he'll hop into a lap and seek out some attention. Of course, this only comes after he's explored everything in sight. He's such a curious, happy little binkying bunny!

Welcome Becca! He is a gorgeous little fellow. A little Charlie Chaplin with that mo ! Happy to hear you're enjoying being a bunny slave. Take time to poke around the site as there is tons of useful info. Oh, your facebook pic reminds me of an old thread we had going in the Lounge. I think I'll go revive it. |

Thanks all for the warm welcome! As for Charlie's upcoming puberty.... Ooh boy, I'm so not looking forward to it! He will be getting fixed and I'm planning on setting up an appointment for when he's four months. I feel like getting this done will be best for the both of us. Also, it feels necessary considering I eventually plan on adding another little bun to our family. Probably next summer, when I'm taking less credits and have more time to devote to a baby or a rescue. I'm actually hoping for the second. I didn't feel confident enough to have my first rabbit be one that might have had special needs or behavorial problems, but after working with Charlie and having a little more experience and knowledge I think I'm going to give it a shot next summer and see what happens. |

Welcome! He is so cute!!! I'm Beka... with a "k"... lol! Rescuing is a great thing! Many people go the route you went and purchase a baby bunny for their first, but once you've been thru puberty and desexing and the destruction that comes with teenage bunnies... the second time around, you'll really want to adopt an adult bunny!!! I also think it's a good idea that you wait to get a second. Enjoy the first year with Charlie and bond/get to know him and his personality before getting a mate for him. This baby time goes by quick, and he deserves your full attention. |

another option for adopting a rescue is you can foster it for awhile and try to bond it to charlie and if bonding doesnt go well you can always retourn it try another bun. your not "stuck" with a single bunny if they decide they dont like each other. |
