Does this happen with anyone else?

I’ll have someone over – like friends or relatives – and it never fails that they will try to whistle or snap their fingers or do something else equally absurd to get my rabbits to come to them if my bunnies decide to come out.   I never have to say anything because my rabbits do it for me – “what?  you talkin to me? you think I’m coming to that?  I only come to food biotch….”  LOL

Having rabbits around really illustrates how little understanding the general public has about other species beyond dog and cat. I had a guest chase one of my rabbits ‘for fun’ briefly, until that rabbit sprayed him in fright… this was pre-neuter.

HAHAHAHA! Well that served him right! lol

Yes, the general public has so little understanding. I still get “what? they don’t like to snuggle?” looks and questions when I talk about living with them. Well Eddie likes to snuggle but Lolli doesn’t – which seems to be the typical trait for most bunnies.

I have a friend who thinks Chacha is cute, and tries to ‘pet’ her but instead it looks like she is going to grab her. NO WONDER Chacha speeds away!! I tell my friend to let my bunny inspect her and get used to her scent.

When friends or family come into my room Bee runs out from under the bed right away “WHOS IN MY ROOM ROOOOAR!!!” Indy bun pokes his head out and says huh? Then runs back under. He’s so shy to people he doesn’t know. Bun just parascopes! And Baggy is just a silly kid who doesn’t care much. lol

Eddie is my scaredy boy so it takes him a while to decide if he’s coming out. Then it takes him forever to actually come all the way back into the living room. lol Lollipop is very sure of herself and curious. Or more like….nothing gets in the way of her eating. LOL She does get scared but usually gets over it quick and will come out to find out what’s going on and if any food is available. But she won’t actually come up to you either. She is just very inquisitive and likes to see what’s going on.

When I take them to the vet on those rare occasions, Eddie’s the one scared to death and huddling down in the laundry basket. Lolli’s periscoping and I have to make sure she doesn’t decide to hop out and go exploring. lol

But I was just thinking about how other people behave towards them – like they’re dogs or cats and will come to a finger wiggle or whistle. LOL They may be indoors (which surprises people still) but that doesn’t make them dogs or cats. haha

LOL I have to admit when I first got Pacey I would click my tongue, whistle, make kissy sounds and snap trying to get him to come to me since I mostly work with dogs. Pacey will actually come to snapping now because so many of my friends and family did it when they wanted to give him a treat.

But I also have friends try to do that to my leopard gecko and even my fish so…

                        lol Petzy   good bunny.

When the cable man comes they look oh a bunny.   One tried to pet cotton and cotton says no way and turned his back  lol.  Cotton only lets me touch him.  And the vet people.

HE will sneak up and smell their shoes when they are paying him no mind.

Ruby  not sure.  No one sees her but me and hubby.   And the girl I got her from.

I remember having a couple over, they were sitting on Bo & Ani’s favorite couch… within a few minutes they had two rabbits crawling all voer them “Who are you? Treats?”
The shock on their faces was helarious.

PitStop will run full tilt to a stranger for pets, Baby might. But that’s about it for my crew. Spencer & Suzy are scared, Bubba never does anything anyways, Kyotos a spaz and well Ani think’s she’s much to good for anyone.

I snap my fingers to try adn get their attention when I want them to come to me and i have treats…. so far it’s not always working LOL… Spencer and Suzy know ‘kissy sounds’ mean treats and they come running… not to strangers though.

My bunnies get excited no matter who is in their room but as soon as they realize you have no treats, you get the bunny butt. Olivia is the only one who will still give you attention if you baby talk her, probably trying to get you to open the door..

This reminds me of my weekend trip to the zoo…a guy was saying “pss pss pss pss” (you know like the cat calling noise) to the sleeping lions. Good luck with that buddy! It really takes all kinds…
