I showed a friend of mine a picture of a cute bun I want to adopt, and she told me she looked wierd and ugly. I am sooooooo boiling right now. I need to cool off before I pummel her. Anyone else have experience with this sort of thing?

(Just so you know, she is puffy and gray, and fluffy little cheecks. I mean, she might look a bit goofy, but I just love her even more that way. )

I wouldn’t worry about your friend. Nothing will change her opinion.. if you choose to adopt it, it is yours to take care of – not hers.

plenty of experience with friends who don’t get it. that’s why i come here! =D

it’s actually rare that i have a friend or family memeber that gives a darn about bunnies. just share with us and we’ll always be excited about fluffy cheeks and goofy buns.

Don’t worry about that. What counts is that you like the bunny.

I do want to warn you tho… If you’re looking on Petfinder, their ads are not always current, so it’s possible that some of the bunnies you see may no longer be available. Rescues are very BUSY and they don’t always have time to update the websites when bunnies are adopted, or pending adoption. Try not to become too attached to pictures, wait until you get to the rescue and see who they actually have available for adoption. If you go there with an open mind, you can pick out the bunnies by PLAYING with them, which is a better way to get a good idea of their personality. Pictures don’t tell you about personality.

You parents can get the process started by filling out an adoption application with the rescue and they can put it on file.

Haven’t had this happen with a rabbit but I would someday like to get a papillon puppy. I think they are soooo cute. But my mom thinks they look like rats with wings. And no one I’ve shown a pic to has really thought they were all that cute either. So…it’s all subjective. lol Here’s a pic of it:

I’m sorry your bunny got adopted.

I prefer large dogs, but I’ve always thought Papillons were beautiful. I love how the link you posted refers to them as gundogs though, LOL.

Don’t worry about what your friends think. I remember when I first got my horse my junior year of high school. I showed my best friend a picture of her and her only comment was: ”I don’t get why you’re so excited; she’s just a brown horse.” I was really upset, but I eventually came to realize that rude comments are usually a friend’s way of masking their jealousy. Maybe your friend is resentful because she can’t have a pet of her own.

True. She did want a turtle, but her sisters bought a ferret. Guess what? No turtle for her.

The weirdest comment I got was  after mentioning the babygate to the bedroom for Cotton…. My friend said A BABY GATE!!!!  and shakes her head.

No a lot of my friends don’t get it.  Though  my sis in law asks about them when I talk on the phone with her and she is scared of them.

                        Go figure…..

lol at the “rats with the wings.”

But I do feel the need to pipe in and say papillons are AMAZING dogs. I usually prefer large dogs, but I would love to own another papillon someday. They’re the most well-behaved, sweet and intelligent little creatures you’ll ever come across. I just love them.

Also, if your mom doesn’t like the way they look, papillons look completely different if you keep their hair short. They look like dainty little foxes.

Yeah, I’ve had this happen, too. I don’t understand why people can prattle on inanely about their dogs and cats, but when I mention a bunny, their eyes glaze over. “INSIDE the house???” they ask. “Don’t they smell?” Better than a wet dog.
