        Hey

I found this recipe online, and made a few tweaks to it. If you try it, and feed it to your buns, please give me feedback!

        Bunny “Carrot Cake”

1 apple slice, no seed, pureed
1/2 banana, mashed until really creamy
        1 tbsp honey
1/4 cup rabbit pellets, ground finely in a coffee grinder
1/4 cup ground oats, ground finely in a coffee grinder
1 small carrot, peeled into shreds
A handful of sunflower seeds (optional)

Mix pureed apple, banana and honey in a medium bowl. Add pellet powder and ground oats. Mix until blended. Knead in your hands for 1-2 minutes. Roll out the “dough” in 1/8- to 1/4-inch thick layers between sheets of plastic wrap. Cut into small cookies (about 3/4 inch across). Place cut shapes onto a parchment paper covered cookie sheet. Bake at 325 degrees for about 30 minutes (check to make sure they are not browning too much). If using, immediately stuff a small amount of seeds in the middle of cookies. Turn off the heat and let the cookies sit in the warm oven for an hour or so.

We aren’t suppose to give our rabbit honey and sunflower seeds. they are very unhealthy for our rabbits. Too high in sugar and fat.

apple, banana, honey, carrot, sunflower seeds = toooooo much sugar and high in fat! at least one tiny piece of fruit a week is good enough treat for a rabbit.

Like human diets, it all depends on the bun. I know my Maryann has had WAY too many raisins in her life but she’s doing fine. However, the original recipe does sound like it was made by someone who doesn’t know a lot about rabbits.

Looks good! I know the biscuit recipe I tried from rabbit.org was a big hit and it used honey as well. Everything in moderation!

I think I might re-adjust it abit more. How about completely removing the banana? And maybe I can adjust it too be a bit more like a crunchy almost salty snack? I’ll get researching. If any of you can make a batch, please give me feedback!

OK, I messed with the recipe a bit.
