Hi. I just found this forum and thought I would introduce my buns. This is Newton. I adopted him from a rescue this week and I can't get enough of him. He is so affectionate and playful. I love how he comes running over to greet me whenever I enter the room.

These two buns are Smokey and Bandit. I adopted them as a bonded pair a little over a year ago. They are very well behaved bunnies and sweet.

Pretty boys!! I am just curious, what kind of habitat do you have for them? Looks like a pen but wood panels behind them? Or maybe that's your furniture - just wondering as I don't think I'd seen any other photos that looked like that. |

Their cage is a large dog crate. I zip-tied wood panels to the back of it because the cage is up against our computer desk. So that keeps them separated from the computer wires. |

Thank you! I don't have plans to introduce them to each other. The woman at the rescue told me to keep them separate because if I introduced Newton to the other two then Smokey and Bandit could dis-bond. So Smokey and Bandit are kitchen buns and Newton is a Living Room bun. They don't see each other at all excpet when Newton escapes his pen. He runs over to their pen and sniffs them with interest and they couldn't care less. |

Welcome
You could bond all 3. I am sure it will not break the bond of the 2 that are already bonded. There are many trios, quartets, even 8 that are bonded on here |

She did also mention that all 3 could eventually be bonded together, which is what I originally thought. But then she scared me with the idea that Smokey & Bandit could dis-bond. Smokey would never forgive me if I let Newton steal his woman from him. |

If they've been bonded that long, it might not break their bond. It would be something to try maybe down the road. Might not be too hard with all males. Welcome btw! Newton has such pretty colors! And S&B are so adorable! |

Thank you for the welcome. Newton got out of his "yard" again today. (His new pet gate should be here tomorrow. The one I'm using now is a baby gate that he can escape when my daughter doesn't lock it - which she never does) He ran over to Bandit and they did some nose boinks through the cage until Smokey saw and he was NOT happy about it. (thump thump thump) Maybe in the future they can bond but for right now I think I'll just keep them separate. I don't want any marital stress. Newton and Smokey are both males but Bandit is a female. Actually Smokey and Bandit are litter mates or so I'm told (to each his own.) We are building a house maybe next year and I might try to bond them together then. Or maybe get a mate for Newton.( I really would love a Lop some day.) |
