i’ve realised that in total i’ve had 4 rabbits in the last 2 years

        even just temporarily…

Write Their Story’s And Pic’s are appreciated!!

        First there was Tinkerbell….

My neihbor had found her outside hopping around alone and well, she did not look wild what so ever. so since we had an empty bunny cage (we bought it for my cousins but their bunny passed away) we took her in.  We had her for about 2 1/2 weeks before we found her owner.

        (sorry i don’t have a better pic )

        Next Was Hershey….

Being sad that we had to give her bunny back to its owner, my little sister started to cry. two days later after getting the ok from my mom, i started searching for a bunny to replace Tinkerbell. I came across the add that showed pictures of two lionhead bunnies and one scruffy looking bunny. One white lionhead male my mom liked. One siamese sable lionhead female i liked, and the siamese sable scruffy looking female bunny.. that for some unfanthomable reason my little sister loved  we went to look at the bunnies 3 days later. The white lionhead the breeder had decided to keep. so there wre two siamese sable bunnies left the single manned lionhead and the (now that we found out) un manned lionhead. we went home with the scruffy looking un manned lion head. Hershey.

        Then Came The Devil… Kisses…

I got Jelouse because my little sister could have a bunny and i couldn’t so loking on kijiji.. again.. i saw a pretty little dwarf bunny named Stew. So i claned the house and the $20 i earned bought me a new bunny!! Re-named autimaticaly because Stew was a mean name the first time kisses met hershey she humped her and pee’d on her head. .. i had no idea about binky bunny at that time o[script removed]

last but never least my twix bar..

In december i started looking for a re-placement for kisses because i was starting to feel lonely. I saw this amazing White lionheaad male on kijiji. he was perfect!!! I arranged to pick him up that Saturday. She sold him the friday before i was to pick him up. Devistated i started looking again. I came across this not-so-dwarf- rabbit. he was identical to hershey! it was love at first sight. i went, picked him and his cage up. a month later i found out he.. wasnt so manly.. Twix was a she!!!! so now i have 2 un-altered female bunnies living in my garage because my mom doesnt want them in the new house…   end of my story.. whats yours?

Sorry its so long    Tell your stories about your bunnies and how you aquired them

I have had 4 in my whole life! Only 2 were actually mine & my responsibility! My first bunny, not sure exactly what breed he was, but he was huge! He was black with white markings on him, my brother got one at the same time, was white with black markings on him! We had got them from the Easter Bunny when we were maybe 6 years old! We had them for probably 4 or so years! They were out door bunny’s in a really cool hutch style cage! I totally forget their names, because we kept changing them! LOL! They were really freindly & were never neutered!
A few years back I started dating my current bf & his sister had Sparkles. Sparkles was a mini lop, white with gray spots! His family moved away & they gave my bf Sparkles to take care of! An animal had got into the garage & got Sparkles!
Last Christmas, my bf got his daughter Buttercup! Same thing happened to him! Binky free forever Sparkles, Buttercup & bunny #1!!!!
Now “I” have Lily & he will never be an outdoor bunny!
I don’t have pics of my 1st bunny or Sparkles, but on my profile I have some of Lily & Buttercup (I think of Buttercup)! Have issues with uploading new ones! LOL!

I found Lily on kijiji too! So happy I found him!

Over my life, I’ve had I think 9 or 10 total. When I was little we had Rambo and Gidgit, who my mom thought were both boys… til we had little puffballs with ears run around. And now I have Monkey Moosie and foster bun Smudge. So 3 now, and I THINK there were 4 or 5 babies when I was little.

Just two. I got Otto from a breeder last year. He’s like our little bunny child and we love him so much (even if he’s decided he hates being touched now).

When he was a year old, I started hunting for a girlfriend for him. He got along with all of the females he was introduced to, but my husband really wanted a lop and none of the shelter bunnies were lops. I went on Craigslist, saying I would only look for lops that were already spayed, and Hannah’s ad came up. We went down to the city to see her and they seemed to get along, so we brought her home (and changed her name from Merlin to Hannah). It was a rocky beginning, but she’s totally part of the family now.

I didn’t have any bunnies as a kid, but I did have a lot of gerbils. I think I had over a dozen (over 15 years) in addition to a few litters.

We had Pumpkin when I was a baby. She died when I was 4. I believe she was a rex.

I begged my parents for another bunny. When I was 5, I got Little. He was a rex. The poor boy got dressed up in pink doll dresses, put into my bike basket, and pedaled up and down the street with me. Even so, he lived a nice long life.

2 1/2 years ago, after okaying it with my dad, my boyfriend and I purchased Stormy for my mom’s birthday. He’s my nethie.

My boyfriend got his rabbit “Ben” (soon to be renamed, as I finally got “him” to hold still and found out “he’s” a she) 2 months ago. Whoops. She’s a Flemmie.

I’m not sure I should participate LOL…. this coudl be a VERY long post…. And i only got my first Rabbits in 2006  LOL

                    hhmm… let’s see if i can get a mini version done…

April 2006 First Bunnies – Baby & Bubba Jack
Decided on rabbits when i coudln’t have cats (allergies), I was volunteering for a rescue, i wanted to foster two fuzzy lops, but these two needed to be taken away from a lady, so i hopped in and grabed them. (First Pic of them)

May 2006 – Neighbour complains about this rabbit eating her garden, my dog and i catch her… covered in motor oil I put up signs find teh family who dumped her after loosing interest after 6 months    (First pic of her, with oil after a whipe)

June or July 2006 – Bo – My Mothers sister and family where moving, my Aunt said “Take your cousisns rabbit or he’s going free in the paper for someone to eat”. I did NOT want another Rabbit, I was having so many issues with the ones I had and was still new to rabbit ownership… I took Bo, who lives in a hutch outside for 3.5 years, I neautered him and bonded him to Ani. He lived to be 8 years old and died from a major abcess on his liver this year. (Pic of night her arrived)

BABIES! 2007 (I think?) – I am bunny sitting/fostering 7, 10 week old Baby bunnies, Angora Rex crosses that were born in a ladies bathroom. Our rescue took the babies and spayed the mother for the lady. There were 8 babies one was adopted he was a rex, and there was only one other with a rex coat, Sara. 3 Ended up being permenently fostered with me, Spencer, Suzy-Q and Sara
This family actually had issues and 3 of the babies all died before their first birthday. The mother rabbit had been ill when these guys were babies, and giving them a condition that wrecked their livers. None of the others have been adopted since this. (If you want to see more, here’s my album of BABIES! http://gallery.hot4x4.ca/album533?page=1&#160

                    Sara, Spencer & Suzy-Q

Ella, Hattie & Olive + Kyoto – All needed a temporary foster home for two months… it was much longer then 2 months and well, Kyoto is still with me LOL. Whizz helped rescue the three girls as they were born outdoors near my place after some one dumped their mom outside.

Ebony & Mittens – Newpaper ad says “Two 6 year old rabbits, Free, one with nerve damage”. Nerve damage was actually a spinal fracture. Out of all my ‘fosters’ these girls will always have a larage spot in my heart. I wasn’t able to ever get them spayed, Mittens was so small and sickly, Ebonys fracture stoped her from being handled. They came to me with rough, dull coats, no shine and dandruf. I cried when I got them home. Ebony’s fracture got worse till she could no longer hop, but pull herself around. She lives over a eyar with me, having special attention and care from me and vet’s. Even got to see a chiropractor. Last year about this time actually, Mittens passed away next to me early in the morning from we believe just old age. I was devistated. I miss these girls, and because of them I will one day have another Holland Lop.

Linus & Muffin – Came back to rescue when the family who adopted them moved and decided their 13 yr old daughter was no longer allowed to keep them.  The Bunnies and the girls were devistated. They were with me over a year, Muffin recently passed away in her foster home, Linus is still looking for someone to call him their own. (Linus = White, Muffin = Gray)

PITSTOP! – Came to me when Mittens fell in love with Kyoto and left her poor sister with no companion He was hand picked b/c of his size and sweet personaility) And is now my #1 little man

Shelter Bunnies – These were temporary fosters, I would haev them for a week or so, usually for medical care. I probably don’t have a picture of each, but we’ll see.

Mississippi – Passes away recently, she spent many nights at my palce, if i had the room she would have stayed.

Smoochy – had a terrible bum issue that needed cleaning so often. She has also passed away.

I dunno this bunnies name, I used this picture of her at the shelter as the ones in my home were went she was ill, and soon after passed away

I also cared for on many occasiaons a large White rabbit with ‘bum issues’. She is still living at the shelter, I just cna’t seem to find a picture of her.
                    I ‘think’ that is it…. lol… I sure hope I didn’t miss anyone, otherwise I’d feel so bad :p

I guess my answer is 3 though there may have been some in my childhood. I really don’t remember.

Mid 2007 I found a cashmere lop at the end of my street one night. I picked him up and took him back home and made a temporary barricade to keep him contained in my living room.  I put up posters and 3 days later he went home.  Apparently he was a repeat escapee.  My education on rabbits pretty much started then when I madly went searching for what they needed.  In retrospect, I provided all the wrong things.  Anyway, he looked alot like this rabbit below though he had a few matts and grease spots on his back.  His name was Twinkles, he was sweet, easy to handle, very soft an fluffy!

End 2007 got Jersey. She was a pet store impulse buy. From that point on I was smitten with rabbits.

In April 2009 I brought home Rumball. He was being advertised in local paper as pure breed 1/2 lop 2yr old male bunny. Needing a new home as owners were moving to apartment.

Maybe this ^ is why he is considered a 1/2 lop? :o)

                      So that’s me. For now…..

I have actually had 2 in my life.

One that I had growing up. I didn’t take care of it, my mom did. It played with the cats

I have Chacha, my 8 month old Netherland Dwarf. I got her from a breeder. I had a lot of fall outs with fellow breeders that went ahead to sell the rabbit when they had already told me that they were holding the bunny for me.

It was meant to be with Chacha, obviously. I don’t know what I would do without her. She has changed my life forever. I see my mom in her, and I wouldn’t be surprised that my mom had something to do with me finding Chacha.

So great to read about your bunnies!

I got my first bunny when I was about 11, I think. She was an old lady named Piña and I got her from my cousin’s at that time girlfriend, who grew tired of her. We kept her inside as a house bunny, but she was never fully litter trained. She passed away about a year or two later.

About 2 weeks later, my parents took me to a pet store, and I picked out this tiny little furball and named her Bella.

Poor, poor Bella lived a great life indoors until she sexually matured. My parents got tired of her behaviour, and Bella became an outdoor free-run bunny.

So, we thought that Bella was lonely and decided she should have babies…it took her 1,5 day to give birth to two huge still-born babies.

Bella died two years later, while I was holding her on our way to the vet, while she screamed. That bunny still brings tears to my eyes, and we actually still argue at home about the way she died, and whether or not, my dad could have prevented it by coming home the minute, I called him and not 1 hour later.

Today I am relieved she found peace at the age of two and didn’t have to live alone in the garden for 10 years or so.

And then 17 years went on before I started looking into having bunnies as house pets. That was last year

I lost Jack April 16 this year, and he is still so dearly missed!!! But I still have Molly, Karl and Freddie.

                            So, in total 6 bunnies.

2, as much as I have always wanted bunnys, my dad is allergic, so I was never allowed. I seriously adopted Kari like the second my parents seperated..my dad was not even out of the house yet(shhh.. he doesnt know that!), Kari was from the local humane society, she was picked up as a stray

Kari was a very smart apple addicted bunny…she loved ANYTHING apple..for example if I had a glass of apple juice on my headboard, Kari would jump onto my bed, nose surf accross my headboard, find the glass and tip it into her front paws and drink it all. if it was apple anything she wanted it and she would do anything do get it! she was also addicted to sugar(shocker lol) and sometime I would share little tid bits of stuff with her…she had a special love of Strawberry daqueries(virgin of coarse) and if I didnt willingly share with her, she would steal my cup and help herself!

I had Kari for 6 years, she died in Feb of 2009, after a lengthy battle with pastourellosis

and my current bun is Jenny, who I adopted from my local shelter in May 2009, her histery is unknown..either someone dumped her with no info or she was picked up stray. either way…she is awsome..NOTHING like Kari, like polar opposites, but Jenny is awsome too..I was forced to change my set up because Jenny is 100 X more active then Kari ever was..Kari I took out for playtime for about 3-4 hours after work, otherwise she lived in a large pen..this was my plan with Jenny…she looked at me..and jumped out of the pen. so much for that! so I styarted giving her free run in general, nut she gets opening the gate to the basment and hanging out down there..so eventually the basement became her’s, she has free run of the basement from when I get up to when I go to bed, she is in her pen only to sleep and eat. she is descructo bunny though..I had to put up siding on my walls because she was eating them, and I spent a few hundred bucks building her play houses located around the basement as her gotcha day present lol. Jenny is also EXTREMLY smart and has a huge desire to please, her faverite thing in the world is training, she loves it and demands it, and runs in circles doing binkies when I bring her stuff out!

                                I’ve had/have 5.

My first rabbit was a gray dwarf named Mickey that my parents bought me in 1996 (I was 11 then).  We bought him from a local pet store at the mall.  He was the little bunny in the corner all alone.  We brought him home and he lived in our basement.  I’d take him out and let him run around upstairs in our living room.  He actually lived to be 12 years old!  He died in 2009 but he lived a long loving life.  Not the best picture of him but only one I could really find.  This was probably in 06.

About 6 months before his passing we bought a house and my husband and I moved into it.  I loved Mickey but I didn’t want to stress him in a new enviroment with his age.  There was something missing in the house….a dog?…no, I didn’t care for dogs too much….a cat?..no don’t like those either…..a bunny!  I felt like I was cheating on Mickey but I’m sure he’d understand since I went to visit him every other day during the week.  My husband liked Mickey so I convinced him a bunny would be better than a dog right now.  So I looked on Petfinder and found Archie in Dec. 08.  He had been found wandering outside on Halloween and was taken to the rescue and had been there since.  I called up said we’d come to see him (he was an hour away), went out that day bought all the supplies and that night we were off to see him…or get him since I knew he was special!  Archie is a holland lop btw.

After we took Archie home I was hooked to petfinder.com to look at all the cute bunnies.  After awhile it seemed like he would like a friend to hang out with.  So I went onto the website and looked at this mini lop named Gracie.  Her story touched my heart and I just had to go up there and meet her.  She was about 4 or 5 (we’re not really sure) and had been at this horrible house that caged her in a 2×2 cage.  The owner hit her when she bit him and the kids chased her around.  They tired to breed her with an angora rabbit but the angora ended up being a female so they gave her to their neighbor which knew the shelter and knew she needed to be rescued.  For her backstory to be so horrible, she sure is a diva!

I started talking to the woman that ran her shelter on facebook and she was always up for fosters.  So we had the room (at the time) and decided to foster a rabbit named Parsnip.  She was a harliquin mini lop.  She was sooo pretty!  The mother was actually rescued in NY (along with 2 other mothers) and there were 12 rabbits total and the shelter decided to help out and took her in.  She was a bit of a diva and she would never binky in front of us…not sure why.  She went to get spayed and stayed at the shelter to heal.  We loved her but we knew someone was interested in seeing her so we kept her at the shelter since it was almost an hour away and swapped her out with a different one.  I’m happy to say she has since gotten adopted and is bonded with the owners male bunny.

The girl at the shelter said she had just gotten a baby agouti mini lop in….we’re suckers for baby lops so we had to go see her.  Her owners surrendered her because of allergies I guess.  As soon as we held her we fell in love!  We fostered her in April 09 and by I think Sept. we adopted her.  There was actually a family interested in her with a little girl but there was something in my gut that said she wouldn’t like it there and she needed lots of attention that the little girl wouldn’t be able to give her (school work and stuff).  My husband said no we can’t but Sandy looked into his eyes and he said ok ok we’ll adopt her.   I found out later when the shelter told the family she was adopted and if they wanted to see another rabbit they said no they only wanted a brown rabbit and they drove off in their fancy car.  Needless to say, I think it was the best decision that we adopted her.  She has gotten quite big (and spoiled) over the year!  Even though she didn’t want to be bonded with Archie & Gracie (and Gracie didn’t want to bond with her!) she is quite content living alone next to them.  Picture when we first got her and now.  (From 3lbs to 7lbs!)

Yeah we were sitting on the bed with her talking about it and I litterally crying because I was so torn and she goes up to him and stands up and looks him in the eyes.  I think she knew she would have been taken back to the shelter if she didn’t do something extremely cute

OMG I just figured out I have had (including fosters) 18 rabbits!!!!  Well, this is over the course of about 20 years but still….wow!  I actually had to open a Word doc to tally everyone and make sure I didn’t miss anyone!  This may be the longest thread here unless someone can beat me!  Now, please put your sticks down as I don’t have pictures of ALL of them….I will try my best to get as many as I can…here goes…

Mr. Freddy was my first bunny.  Got him when I was 5 when the Santa at the mall told me that he would get me a bunny for Christmas….needless to say my Mom was not a happy camper and she went bunny shopping.  She got him from a person who had a basement full of bunnies.  All well cared for and she chose Mr Freddy (formerly Mr. T) because he was well behaved and didn’t mind being held.

Sunshine was a BEAUTIFUL, almost red, netherland dwarf.  She was very much a diva!  I got her when I was 13ish.  My Mom didn’t like her because she would lunge at your hand when you fed her….she wouldn’t lunge at me because I never flinched and pulled my hand out of the cage so she figured out she couldn’t scare me.  She ended up getting pnemonia and my parents refused to take a “$15 rabbit” to the vet.  When her condition really worsened my parents broke down and finally took her to the vet.  Vet said she was so bad she would be suprised if she lived through the night.  I gave her the meds and fed her through a syringe for a week before she passed….still breaks my heart!

Baby was a white bunny with Brown spots with super long ears.  I got her after Sunshine passed away because I was hearbroken and my Dad and I went to a petstore and I fell in love again….Baby was a bit of a diva and I had her for awhile but a problem came about when it was time for college and the dorm wouldn’t allow rabbits.  She stayed home while I was in college that first year and passed away during that year….

Cindy aka Cinderella was a white and grey spotted netherland dwarf bunny that my sister found running loose in the neighborhood.  She even KNEW the family.  They had 2 bunnies, a male and female, and decided they only wanted one.  The kids picked the female to “be free” and left her outside for 2 nights before my sister found her.  When she found her they were sliding Cindy down a play side.  My sister called me and asked what she should do and I said just grab her and bring her home, we will ask for forgiveness and not permission!  So she did and that night Cindy started pulling at my sisters clothes and hair while she was laying on the floor and found out why….. later that night gave birth to 3 small babies.  1 died almost immediately, the 2nd died the next day and the 3rd lived for a few days.  She was a first time Mom who had a very tramatic few days and we have NEVER had baby bunnies!  I called a vet and no one would give me any info on caring for baby bunnies without seeing them first and again, my mom would not take a bunny to a vet!  She became more my sisters bunny and she REALLY fattened her up to the point she couldn’t groom her…back end areas…. we ended up giving her to a rescue organization who found a WONDERFUL home for her with 3 girls (8-13) who had just lost their bunny of 5 years due to a twisted and obstructed intestine, it was rushed to the hospital and died very soon after arriving.  I knew she’d be in good hands because the little girl is the one who noticed something was wrong and the mom immediately took the bunny to the vet.

Rupert came about in 2006 when I was in my last year of college and lived in an apartment.  I was very lonely as my roomate and I were not getting along so I decided a rabbit would be a good apartment pet.  I got him from a rescue which was working with an hoarding situation and had over 100 bunnies running loose in the house.  He is still a wonderful apartment bunny and is still with me 5 years later!

I got Bella not too long after I got Rupert and tried bonding them.  They had one very bad fight and it was never the same.  I ended up having to give her back to the rescue because they hated each other.  She was a Dutch like Rupert (same hoarding situation) but she was mocha brown.

I met my husband at the end of 2006 and introduced him to Rupert and he fell in love.  However, he had always wanted a REW and wanted to name it Binicula after a childhood book.  We found Benny at a pet store and my  husband fell in love so Benny came home with us

Next came Malcolm, he was a brilliant silver marten who every bunny we had immediately took to.  He could scale the box castle (at least 3 feet off the ground and be sitting in the food box that we served all the bunnies out of and did it silently.  Climbed the bars of his pen and got stuck half way up…we found him hanging on like a Garfield car cling.  We started trying to bond him with Rupert and Malcolm unfortunatley passed due to jaw abcesses.  We had given him a $1000 surgery with implanted medicated beads and the abcess just reappeared under the jaw not 4 months later and the day we noticed we made an appt for the very next day and he ended up passing away early that morning.  I miss him so much!

Next came Dusty, he was a Jersey wooley who was getting picked on by the other bunnies so we brought him home.  (Same petstore as Malcolm, Benny, Smokey, and Mitch) he had a malformed lower jaw so that his teeth couldn’t properly grind down and the vet was worried because he was so small to pull the teeth they would break the teeth or his jaw, we made a very difficult decision to put him to sleep because we couldn’t afford the ongoing medical care and didn’t want to risk breaking his jaw or his teeth and making his life worse.

We got Smokey really soon after getting Dusty as they were from the same litter.  She is the PRINCESS and doesn’t really care for the other bunnies we have because they won’t listen to and won’t praise her.  We are currently trying to bond her with Rupert and Monster.

Mitch is a angora lop we found at that same petstore but he was given to the pet store because he was a show bunny that didn’t show well and he was being tormented by little kids grabbing at him and trying to pull him out of his all metal wire cage.  I couldn’t leave him there so he came home with us.  We fostered him for a little while and ended up finding a home for him where he was bonded with Millie and is now King Mitch and now has a family with kids but is the fathers pet and lives in his office/study.  Here is Mitch and Millie on their very first meeting.

We next fostered Bonnie and Clyde.  They were two lionheads who prefered to sit like this on my husband and I.  Bonnie was a bit of a diva also and her and Smokey decided there could not be two top girls and as soon as Bonnie and Clydes forever home was lined up they moved out.  2 sweethearts though!  Bonnie would sit on your shoulder and Clyde would lay in the crook of your arm….for hours if you would let them!

Later we fostered Flo and Esther, they were rescued from an older guy in Cleveland, Ohio who started with 2 bunnies for his grandkids.  Before he knew it he had 25 running around outside in just 3 years.  Flo is an agouti who was very skittish and shy and Esther was a charcol agouti coloring but she was very food possessive and mean.  The only one she would allow to touch her was my husband, everyone else would get bitten.  After fostering for about 6 months we decided to give Flo her forever home and she was bonded with Benny and the are very much in love.  Esther was given back to the rescue organizataion when room for her became available.

When we moved to our newer apartment we came with 4 bunnies, Benny, Flo, Rupert and Smokey.  Benny and Flo were bonded and Rupert and Smokey weren’t having it.  2 very difficult personalities.  So we went to find them friends.  We came home with Dug and Albert.  Dug is a harelquin and Monster is a tiny dutch bunny.  We figured Dug would be a good match for Rupert and Monster a good match for Smokey.  Well things didn’t work out that way so we had 1 bonded pair and 4 single bunnies.

We rescued Albert from a couple who broke up and neither wanted.  He was at this weird pet store at the mall and just wanted attention and to be pet.  So he joined our gang.

To date, Albert and Dug are almost bonded and spend most of their time out cuddling and grooming except for the time when Albert is chasing Dug and trying to mount him.  Dug thinks its a game and when we stop Albert when he is getting too persistant Dug turns around like “Why aren’t you chasing me anymore??” and will come back and check on him as to why he isn’t folliwng anymore.  Not too muich longer and I feel they will be bonded.

Sorry everyone for the lack of pictures at the end as the browse button stopped working but all the last bunnies pics have beenposted in previous posted.

Whew!  That was a very very long list!!

Great idea for a post. I enjoyed reading everyone’s stories.

For me, Oliver is my first rabbit. He’s a Mini Lop and very sweet. He’s very easy-going and is the perfect introduction to the world of bunnies.

My girlfriend, though, had a pet bunny when she was little that she loved. His name was Oreo, and he was a broken Mini Lop. He lived at her jerk father’s house. One day her father got mad at her and got rid of Oreo. She never found out what happened to him or where he went, so she obviously never saw him again. She’s wanted another bunny since. I’m glad that Oliver can fill that gap in her heart.

I enjoyed reading reading this thread and seeing all the pics but it’s a bit sad to see all those beautiful buns who have passed on.

                                            I’ve had 5 bunnies.

Stormy  is the original rabbit. He’s responsible for making me the crazy rabbit lady I am today. My bf and I were planning on getting a dog but decided against it so he said I could get some guinea pigs because I had g pigs in high school and adored them very much.  I decided to get a bunny since I’d always loved them but never had one. Ricky said “Okay, in  a month or so we’ll start looking for a rabbit.” The next night Stormy came to  live with us I had seen him at a pet store during my lunch break and fell in love. I didn’t know how bad petstores were at the time but I’m so glad I got Stormy. He’s been with me over 6 years now. After I got him, I did lots of research and was amazed at how complex and wonderful bunnies are!

My next bundle of joy was a Mini-Lop named Velvet. I wanted one of each: a lop and an uppy eared. She went to the bridge after a year and a half. This was about 5 years ago. I still really miss her.

Next was my sweet Holland Lop, Vanilla Bean. He left me far too fast. I only had him about 5 months.

Then I got my beloved Bindi Loo. I got him at a pet store. He was in with a litter of 2 other bunnies who looked exactly the same. He just sort of gave me a vibe so I snatched him up and I’m so glad I did.

Olivia was a rescue bunny but not from a shelter. After learning more about pet stores I began only doing my shopping in stores that don’t sell pets. My usual store was out of hay so I had to go to the “mean” pet store. There I saw a sad sight.  A little bunny looking very miserable with an infected eye in a tiny glass case. I couldn’t stop thinking about her. I posted about it here and you know how helpful members are at talking you out of getting a bunny! I said if she was still there in a week I would get her. At the pet store they told me she had babies at the store, got adopted and was returned. I offered them 10 bucks and brough her home. She’s really worth a million.

                                            Make-over, Make-over

This is a pic I took while she was at the pet store. It still makes me sad.

This is the spoiled brat she is now

awww…  lpt i remember when you brought olivia home.  she’s such a sweetie… and a lucky bun to have found you

great thread!  i’ve had four bunbuns in my whole life.

1st… binky… sweet grey mini lop boy who i thought was a girl purchased at a pet store before i knew better.  he was quite a character!

(no pic at work… he was pre-digital pic days but i think i have a scan at home)

2nd… brownie… cuddly white and brown mini lop girl who stole my heart the minute i picker her up and she snuggled under my chin.

                                              (also no pic at work)

3rd… baby… feisty grey and white lop who was very independent and who my forum name is after since she lead me to this site

4th… pinky… silly and cuddly pinky-poo who was thumpy mcthumperson until she settled in at home when i adopted her from the shelter.

Huh!  I need your friends!  Mine buy me the bunny.

LOL….. I admired a gerbil on my friends photobucket account, when she came up for my Birthday she brought me a gift, two baby boy gerbils, one of which was the one i was admiring. She did say however if I didn’t want them she’d take them home with her LOL… Friends are bad influences sometimes!
I think if anyone was to ‘give’ me a rabbit as a present, i don’t care how good of a friend they are I may just punch them in the face…. but anyways.

I had 2 rabbits when I was growing up (age 10ish) – Speedy and a brown bunny. No one in the family can remember what the ‘brown bunny’ was called!
Speedy was a black and white dutch and he lived outside in a cage and ate pellets his whole life. Sorry Speedy
The Brown Bunny was a neutered dwarf something. My uncle bought him for his daughters, but they weren’t taking care of it, so my uncle gave it to my Dad for me.
He would run around the house and was litter box trained. He loved to play tag with our HUGE tom cat. Peaches would lie on his back and let the Bunny jump off his tummy – tag you’re it!
Now I have 2 Bunnies – Tansy and Kiwi. Tansy I bought this Spring as a baby and had neutered in May. Kiwi a friend adopted from the Humane Society for me. A gift bunny!
They are bonded and the sweetest boys ever!
