I bought Annabell parsely at the grocery store and she seems to love it. We are still in the introducing stage of new veggies. My question is this? How much parsley can she have in one day? I dont want to give her to much. Right now she also gets romaine lettuce and a few baby carrots every day.

        Thanks!

P.S. Is anyone else having trouble uploading pics?! I want to show pics of Annabell and set a profile picture but when I go to save the uploads I do they are never. there. What should I do?

How old is she? The general guideline is 2 cups per 6lbs body weight (though I feed my 4lb bun 2 cups of veggies per day too, as this recommendation is a minimum). Parsley is fine to feed in large quantities, but since she’s young just make sure you introduce it slowly over the course of a week. After that, you can give her as much as you want.

A few baby carrots sounds like a lot of carrot per day.  I would probably only give 1 baby carrot a day- as they are higher in sugar than greens and herbs.

For a new veggie I usually only start my bunnies off with a sprig the first day- see how they do- and then give more each day they are doing well.  It is tougher with a new bunny or a young bunny since you are still finding out if they have sensitive tummies or not- but once you get a feel for your bunnies diet tolerance you will be more comfortable with new green and herbs.  Other veggies that are more likely to cause upset like brocolli, etc- I still would intoduce slowly.

Okay thanks. I will also try to limit the carrot intake.

My pair shares one bunch a day. It’s their favorite and it’s always the first to go!

Is it the Albums under your profile where you are having trouble? I see you have uploaded some there. She’s a cutie! If you want to add to the current album, once you upload the photos you can check a box to assign it to an album. Then save.
Otherwise, create a new album, upload pics and assign to the new album name. I’ve found if I haven’t assigned where they go it tells you they’ve uploaded but then they don’t appear. Hope that helps.

I hope you don’t mind my suggestion here. I noted Annabell has wire flooring in her cage. This is not real good for their feet. Though I see she gets time out of the cage on solid flooring so that’s good! Anyway, if you cover the wire with something solid and provide a good size litterbox, you’ll find you won’t need drop thru floors and it will make clean up much easier for you.

Does she use a litterbox in the cage or outside of it also?

My buns are both about 4lbs (Nutter is still growing a little though) and I don’t really measure their veggies, but they get about 1-1.5 cups of greens a day, with very restricted pellets (1/8 a cup for Rees, who’s fully grown, and 1/4 cup for Nutter). I was feeding the buns carrots as part of their regular diet for a while but my last guy got REALLY fat on it! As soon as I cut them out and reduced his pellets he got right back down to a healthy weight, so now they’re all on greens-only and get carrot slices as treats

Does the 2cups per 6lb bunny go for romaine lettuce too? Izabella just started romaine lettuce today! in fact, just a few hours ago. At first she wanted nothing to do with it! We left a small leaf in her cage, and after my nap (yes, I am an adult, have no fear! )… my daughter told me she ate all the dark green. So, we gave her a few more small leaves and she ate all but the stems. She does not like those! Should I go ahead and give her all she wants or go slow? Right now I only have Romaine lettuce (remember I am the weirdo, who can not eat any fiber so we do not have anything other fresh veggies in the house! ) …

Izzy is just now about 12 weeks… right on the nose if the pet store told me the truth. Izzy also is going through a stage where she is eating TONS of hay. I am not kidding… She is a mini Rex and weights about 2lbs. She is eating about twice as much hay as she was just 2 weeks ago, and she loves to bury her head into the top of the bag of hay and eat to her delight. I am holding the bag, if not she would just take the bag and be gone with it. Sometimes she will sit there for at least 10 minutes and just eat hay like she has never seen it before. And yet, I keep an unlimited amount in her cage. Silly bunny..

Let me know about the limits of romaine lettuce and hay as she is older.

2 cups per 6 lbs is recommended for adult bunnies. Here’s the House Rabbit Society on feeding veg. http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/diet.html
Romaine is a good starter veg so continue with it. If the veg intake starts to effect the hay intake negatively, it’s always good to cut back. It sounds as if that’s not a problem with Izzy which is great. What type of hay is it that she loves so much?
You can introduce some other greens to get vitamin A into her diet. These have a * next to them on the HRS list.
