My dad told me that this is a bad season for spiders

He was right indeed!!

Last month, I got bitten twice by a spider. . . in my sleep

Last night, while I was asleep, I got bitten twice .. in my sleep

Now, I wake up and discover my right hand and forearm are swollen with a bite.

Applying some anti itch cream. Just watching over it.

I have found quite a few spiders recently! They are all trying to escape frying in the heat! Hubby is completely arachnophobic! He hates them! Definitely keep an eye on those bites though!

I am
My boyfriend is an Athletic Trainer in training and he tells me constantly to wash my hands/places I've been scratched if Chacha scratches me, and that I don't need to worry about the bites unless it starts doing certain things o_O

My friend said shes seen more spiders than usual in her apartment.

Yes, I have been forced to learn all about spiders and bites since he is so paranoid about them, he must research EVERYTHING about them...just to make himself more paranoid! I have seen at least three or four just this week! Of course then I had to clean under the bed where I found one (right before bedtime) because he wouldn't sleep in the bed knowing that there was a spider under it...

my co-worker trapped a spider in a short cup and put a lid and stopper on it. I asked her what drink that was - she said "It's a spider" I thought it was some new fancy name for a drink she made....I said, "well whats in a spider?" ..... I opened it up and low and behold...a spider!!! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!! That's the last time I ask about that "special" drink!

biting spiders? where do you live Brittany? That is very scary. I sometimes find spiders in my bed, too, but the ones we have here don't bite.
However, a friend of mine was bit by a tropical spider once and her entire face puffed up periodically every few weeks after that bite. She had to get medical attention for it.

Lindsey - A SPIDER frappuccino?

Petzy - I think spiders are common around Washington... I've always seen one once in a while..

My dad got bit last month as well. The swelling on mine has gone down from yesterday, thank goodness! I iced it last night.

I'm not a fan of insects!! ><

Oh yikes! Spider bites can cause some nasty swelling, but it's those brown recluse spiders that scare me the most as they can have a nasty venom. My parents use to have those in their house (they live in the south where there is higher population of recluses) and they got an exterminator thank goodness. I remember I had gotten bit there and it began to swell, and we were pretty worried, but it turned out to be just a harmless spider bite.

This year, for us, hasn't been too bad spider wise. Last year, though...WOW-- Now here's a creepy spider story for ya all: Steve and I were in the living room and all of a sudden I looked up at the ceiling (something had caught my eye), and I saw dozens and dozens of little baby spiders crawling on the ceiling spreading out, some of them coming down on their little webs. It was like some scary spider movie! Well, I've never moved so fast and I BOLTED out of the living room, just a big blur flying by!

I'm normally not too freaked out by spiders, but I will still escort them out of the house in a cup. The only spider I will actually allow to stay is a daddy-long leg spider. Those for some reason don't freak me out and I will even hold them to get them out of places I don't want them to be.
I think because they kill and eat other more pesty  spiders, I'm okay with them staying around. (The most eco-friendly pesticide you could ask for.) They are also pretty slow and very shy and are not the kind to be crawling all around the house like other spiders do except when they leave their web to go to the bathroom to get a drink from drips of water in the sink. .

Well, don't know how I got so sucked up in my own spiders stories...

I ditto Mocha's good wishes to you of "healing spider bite vibes"

That is weird...I don't fully remember. Why don't I remember that? That's kind of freakin me out. I remember running like a bat out of hell but that's it. I know we don't have bug spray and I wouldn't have sprayed it even if we did just because all the stuff would have fallen down onto the living room rug where Jack and Vivian hang out in the evenings. For some reason I think my husband got a broom and collected as many as he could on it and left the broom outside...or shook it out the window. ?????  . But now I will have to ask him!

Greatest product ever! Ortho Ecosense brand Indoor insect killer

It is soybean based. i don't know what other ingredients it has in it. Naturally being an insecticide, you don't want to spray around foods. It doesn't have an odor. And what makes it the greatest product ever - it honest to God kills insects on contact like it claims. Sprayed a spider - died right there on the wall. I hate spiders so when I spray it, damn it, I want it to die instantly. This stuff does that. lol

It's not an aerosol so it doesn't go all over. It comes in a bottle like Febreeze or other spray cleaners, so it's "spot" spraying rather than "fumagate the house with poison" aerosol spraying. I don't have to use it a lot, thank God, but I am always careful about my rabbits and their things. The label states that it's safe to use around children and pets. It does leave some type of oily residue that can be wiped off. Obviously it's not non-toxic but it's better than other chemical insecticides like RAID.

Just an FYI for everyone since we're talking about bugs and whatnot. LOL
